America's P.O.V
••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock, as much as I wanted to stay in bed, I knew I needed to get up and go to school. I reluctantly got up and headed over to my dresser, deciding to go with no sunglasses today. I put on my favorite red hoodie and black jeans. I was about to walk out when I remembered something, my bandages.
I walked into the bathroom, grabbed the gauzes and headed back to my room. As I sat down on my bed and started re-doing my bandages, I heard something. Unfortunately for me, Canada didn't know I was awake and strolled right into my room. Now, I haven't cut in a few days, but that doesn't mean the cuts weren't still visible. I looked up at him and he looked down at me.
"A-America?" Canada asked. A tear had formed in his eye, threatening to fall. He walked towards me and squatted down. "Why?" The look of concern only worsened when he took a closer look. "...I'm sorry" I apologized, looking down, trying to avoid eye contact. "does mom know...?" He put his hand on my arm, being careful not to re-open any of the self-inflicted wounds.
I slowly nodded. "Yeah...USSR told her..." I answered. He looked slightly confused. "Why would he know?" I bit my lip, not really wanting to talk about this anymore. "Russia saw the bandages on my arm when he was over to work on our group project, he also saw my razor blade" I explained. He sighed, hugging me tightly. "Does father know?" He asked, pulling away from our hug.
I didn't know, to be honest. mother never mentioned telling him, and I hope she didn't. "I hope not..." I mumbled. "Why don't you want him to know?" Canada seemed confused again, but honestly, when isn't he? I reluctantly rolled up my sleeve revealing the bruise father had caused, I also pulled down my hoodie and shirt a bit, making sure not t make eye contact the entire time.
His expression to one of shock, anger, and something else I couldn't quite read. "He did that?" He asked. My brother was clearly pissed, as I nodded. "That son of a-" I cut him off, knowing he was about to explode in rage. "It's fine Canada" I stated calmly. "Mother knows and she's trying yo figure something out, besides, he hasn't hit me in a few days anyway" I finished. he sighed put his hands on my shoulders and started to speak. "He shouldn't have hit you in the first place. Just because he hasn't in a couple of days doesn't make it any better America"
I knew he was right, I knew I shouldn't be trying to justify his actions towards me, but I couldn't help it. He used to be a great father, kind, caring, loving. Just because he hit me a few ties doesn't mean I can just forget all of that. "I know" I agreed, finishing wrapping up my arm. I rolled my sleeves back up and headed for the door. "If it makes you feel any better," I started, standing in the doorway, "I haven't cut myself in a couple of days" Canada smiled a little bit and hugged me again. "Tell me next time he hits you, alright?" I nodded. "I will"
