A Mermaid's Forgotten Anger

3 1 1

Ocean seas surround me
But I am unafraid
Gold beams through the water
Its light disrupts the shade

The floating, floating feeling
Of utter weightlessness
A lifetime of comfort
Not a moment of helplessness

My mind is quiet
My emotions are at peace
No need to worry
I'm eternally free

The pounding, pounding feeling
The beating in my ears
I've never felt this feeling
Not once in all my years

A ship is fast approaching
The nets they've cast aside
They're coming soon to catch me
They're never satisfied

The sudden, sudden feeling
Of fading liberty
They'll take my pride and break it
They'll take what makes me, me

The seas grow rough and off they go
To find some better sailing
They all go to down below
I soon forget their failings

The pleasing, pleasing feeling
Of losing all unrest
I soon forget the feeling
And drift to my own rest
