THIRTY-ONE: The Outing

Third Person.....

"The plans are laid out. We only need your go signal."

A wicked grin flashed across the boss' face as the men gathered around that dark room where they keep their meetings secret.

"Good. We're not gonna fail this time."

The boss played with the knives spread acrossed the table. These are the same knives that was used ten years ago.

"Sigurado ba kayo sa bata niyo sa loob, boss? Hindi ba tayo ipagkakanulo niyan?"

Nag angat siya ng tingin at sa mga nanlilisik na mga mata ay pinalipad niya ang isang kutsilyo sa direksiyon ng lalaki. The knife flew across the room and got impaled on the wall behind the men.

Then new recruits snickered as they say to themselves that the boss is a bad shot. But the old members of the gang knew better than to hold their laughters.

"Hindi ako magkakamaling patayin ang sinumang manloloko sa akin."

Tumayo siya mula sa kinauupuan niya at naglakad palabas. Ngunit bago pa siya makalabas ng pintuan ay nag habilin muna siya sa mga ito.

"The plans will take place in two days. Tell the other boys to prepare." Then he left.

The guys let out a sigh of relief as their boss left the area. Except for one man because his left cheek starts to bleed.

Auburn's POV

"Come on sestra! It's only for two days."

I am talking to Hali on the phone and she's making me come to the collab photoshoot in Batangas this weekend.

"Hali I told you that I can't. May relay race kami this Saturday and coach won't just let me off the hook."

"Everyone will be there."

"Alam ko. You guys enjoy without me. Ano ba naman iyong isa lang sa ating magkakapatid ang wala doon diba? Three out of four. They should be happy about it."

"No, I meant EVERYBODY. Blythe and sibs will be there."

Awtomatikong lumipad ang tingin ko sa taong katabi ko ngayon na tutok na tutok ang tingin sa tv habang kumakain ng popcorn at nakapatong ang mga paa sa lap ko.

"Sasama ka sa outing?" I asked her.

Napahinto naman ito sa pagsubo at poker face tumingin sa akin. "Yep," maikling sagot niya.

Bumuntong hininga lang ako. Galit pa rin siguro siya sa akin kaya ganyan siya sumagot.

"I see that you guys are together right now, huh?" nang aasar na sabi ni Hali sa kabilang linya. Alam na niya ang tungkol sa amin ni Blythe. "Maybe she could make you come. Bye sestra! See you, muah!"

The line got cut off before I could even say anything. Napapailing nalang ako sa naging usapan namin ni Hali. Maya maya ay yung cellphone naman ni Blythe ang tumunog. Sinagot niya iyon.

"What's up Hal?"

Tumaas ang kilay ko. Seryoso nga ata si Hali sa sinabi niya kanina.

"Nope. I don't think she can come."

Are they talking about me? Tsk, kulit talaga.

Blythe faced me again. "Hali is asking if you can come with us this weekend."

"I told you I can't—"

"She can't, Hal." she cuts me off before I can even finish my sentence. "Yep. Sure. Okay. Uh-huh. Bye see you!"
