It was a hot summer day, I was in the first grade and me and my cousins were telling scary stories. Now this is where it gets strange. My cousins always tried to scare me by telling these stories. I believed them this time. I had a feeling something was wrong but no one listened.

For days I begged them to listen yet I was six and no one wants to listen go some little girls "nightmare". They weren't nightmares because I could see them with my eyes. I could hear them with my ears. Until one day my cousin saw it for herself.

My cousin and I were out playing with matches (typical 6 year olds). There was this part under the stairs that was a big room with no door. It was dark so we lit a match and started walking inside this "room", but that's when we heard a faint hiss growling noise we looked up and saw a man. My cousin ran in fear leaving me behind. He had red glowing eyes and his face was all messed up. I started to scream when I felt the touch of long fingers run down my back.

I was so frightened the next morning. Yet I didnt tell anyone. Every time I close my eyes in the dark and light a dim match i can see him, hovering in the corner, watching me. I can't stand being in the dark alone anymore. I'm scared of it. I dont think I could ever be alone in the dark.
