Hermione's eyes fluttered open to see where she was, a gasp of shock and worry escaped her mouth. She glanced over at the old Grandfather Clock, the hands showed it was four in the morning. Silently she pulled herself away from Harry and crept back into her dorm.
"Where were you?" Pavarti asked as she entered. Hermione blushed.
"I fell asleep in the Common Room" she replied all to quickly. Pavarti smiled. Hermione blushed.
"Really? So why when I had a peak downstairs were you and Harry both there?" Hermione blushed even harder. Pavarti smirked.
"Right, everyone knows that Harry is totally crushing on Cho Chang but I think, along with many others, that he is truly in love with you" Hermione blushed, "But let's see, hmm to make him crush on you, if you want I can help"
"Not right now"
"Alright if you change your mind let me know, Night"
"Night"The next morning Hermione awoke and pulled on her robes. Harry was sat in the common room, looking incredibly confused and worried.
"Harry? What's wrong?" Hermione asked sitting down next to him. He looked up at her and hugged her tight.
"You're alright!" He smiled as he embraced her. She blushed and hugged him back.
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" They pulled apart and Harry told her.
"Voldemort probably knows you're my cr-Best Friend, and he would hurt you, to hurt me"
"Aww Harry" Hermione hugged him tight.A small cough broke them apart, Ron stood there, smirking.
"Harry mate you should probably go put some new robes on" Hermione giggled as Harry left. Harry blushed and went to change.
"How long?" Ron asked sitting next to Hermione.
"A few years" Hermione responded, the blush erupting on her face.
"He definitely loves you" Hermione blushed and hugged Ron. He smiled and hugged her.
"Now I need some love advice, I like Lavender Brown" Hermione smiled.
"Really?"
"Yeah, a lot"
"I'll keep an eye on her, and next time she wants to have a boy talk in the dorm I'll participate"
"Thanks Hermione" he hugged her, she smiled and hugged him back.
"No problem Ron""Come on you two" Harry grabbed Hermione and Rons wrist and dragged the two out of the room. Ron pulled away but Hermione didn't, her and Harry's hands were attached to one another's until they sat down at their house table.
As Hermione made her way to DADA she could feel something was different. Something wasn't going to be the same.
As Hermione sat down a paper bird was floating around the classroom, it flew around a bit before landing on Hermione's desk. Curious she opened it.
Dear Hermione,
You are a real Mudblood, and a beaver
D.M
An angry look formed on Hermione's face. She turned to look at Malfoy, he smirked and shot him a glare.
"Hermione what's wrong?" Harry asked placing his hand or her shoulder, her eyes met hers, she handed him the letter. As he read it a look of anger spread across his face. He turned to face Malfoy. Draco's smirk faded. Harry drew his wand, Hermione grabbed his arm to stop him.
"Later" she whispered in his ear. He nodded as gave her a quick hug. She blushed as it ended.
"Ahem" an annoying high pitched voice exclaimed. The whole class turned to see the Umbridge woman dressed fully in pink, her cardigan was fluffy and her brown hair was perfectly curled on her head. Hermione frowned, this seemed wrong.
"O. W. L's" she pointed her wand at the blackboard and the letters appeared on it in chalk. "More commonly known as Owls" she smiled sweetly at the class, but Hermione could tell she was forcing it. She continued to explain that O.W.Ls stood for Ordinary Wizarding Levels and that they are incredibly important and couldn't help but mention they were taking them that year. "Now I'd like you all to read chapters 1 through 3 of this this book" the books landed on their desk. Hermione raised her hand, after 5 minutes Umbridge eventually noticed.
"What is it Miss?"
"Granger And I've already read the whole book" Umbridge sighed and looked at her, a big smile on her face.
"Well then read from this book" the book appeared on her desk and Umbridge returned to inspecting the class. Within minutes Hermione's hand was raised again.
"What is it now dear?"
"When are we going to do the practical part of the lesson?"
"What do you mean by prac-."
"What I mean by practical is when are we actually going to practice some defensive spells" Umbridge's smile looked even more forced.
"Why would you need to practice defensive magic?"
"Because Voldemort wants to kill me and well everyone who isn't Pureblood" Harry told her, scowling. Hermione smiled and grabbed his hand under the desk, she was happy he supported her.
"But Vol-Him is dead" Umbridge protested.
"No he returned! He killed Cedric Diggory!" Harry shouted.
"You have been told a certain dark wizard is at large, this is a lie" she smiled reassuringly at the class.
"It's not a lie!!!" Harry screamed standing up. Hermione grabbed his sleeve to try and pull him down, it didn't work.
"Mister Potter!! Detention!!" Umbridge replied, she wrote something on a piece of paper. "Now take this to Professor McGonagall" Harry sighed and left his seat. As he left the classroom he shot Hermione and apologetic look. She nodded before he left.
