"where's john?" i asked ringo, causing him to put the tea kettle down and face me.
"oh, john... he uh," ringo stuttered nervously as i grew increasingly impatient.
"ringo! hurry your arse up, would you? i might choke on my own saliva before the tea is ready." paul yelled from the curtained off living area beside us.
"sorry, we'll talk later. yeah?"
i stood staring back at my reflection in the horribly lit bathroom mirror as i thought about how i never got a response yesterday from ritchie. ever since i asked about john, he had avoided me.
almost as if he knew something i wasn't supposed to find out.
either way, i can't dwell on it today. george was taking me on a date at this ice rink he wanted to see in about an hour. apparently he and ringo had passed by it while i was gone and it was totally decked out for christmas. i was excited, i knew i needed to focus on him and only him for a short while. after all, he is my boyfriend.
before i could go to the ice rink though, there was another issue that arose. i had no idea how to skate, nor did i own a pair. luckily for me, jane had an abundance of almost every clothing article you could ever dream of. that leads me to where i am now, sitting on the edge of the bathtub with my newly tied skates attempting to stand up. just as i got to my feet, there was a knock on the door.
"if your name is paul, ringo, or especially george, go away."
"what about nancy?" she laughed from outside as she turned the knob.
"i suppose that's fine."
"may i ask why you're wearing ice skates in the bathroom, gripping onto the sink for dear life?" she asked, closing the door behind her.
"george is taking me ice skating today and i've never even done so much as put on a pair of these death traps let alone use them properly."
"michelle?"
"yeah?"
"why in the bathroom?"
i gritted my teeth and awkwardly placed one of my hands on my hips as i leaned against the sink. "because, i refuse to practice in front of the lads. if i slip once i'll never hear the end of it."
"you're so naive." said a new voice.
nancy and i turned to see jane standing with her arms crossed against the bathroom door."how did you even,"
"let george teach you how to ice skate. that's the whole point of taking you there, love. it's the ultimate opportunity to get his hands all over you."
nancy, who had been spending a large amount of time recently with jane, of course agreed with her.
"she's right, chelle. just go out there utterly clueless."
i stood and looked at both of them, struggling to keep my balance.
"but before you do, for the love of god, take those things off." nancy added.
as the two of us got off the double decker bus, george had already begun bragging about his skills on the ice.
he spoke about the time he and the lads went skating in liverpool at a frozen over lake. paul fell so hard on his arse, he fell through."it was bloody hilarious. he just kept yelling about his hair. oh! where's my comb!" he mocked as we approached the rink.
"i'm just thanking my lucky stars this is a legitimate rink."
