I locked myself in my room all weekend and didn't open the door for anyone, but even Collin.
That says a lot because normally Collin is the only one I open the door for. I slipped out of my room at night to sneak food.
Now it's Monday.
I curled my hair and put it into a bun with a white headband. I have on white heels and a white Topshop lace corset dress and a denim jacket with spikes on the shoulders and white round sunglasses. I grab my bag and go downstairs.
My siblings and mother are waiting for me.
"It is unhealthy to hide in your room during heartbreak." Mom says.
"Well then I guess I'm unhealthy." I reply, downing a banana.
They don't press. I leave, heading to school.
If he tries to speak to me I'm going to be really upset.
Of course he's standing next to my parking spot, a red t-shirt on and jeans. He's wearing the same black jeans and belt that he wore the day I met him.
I prepare myself and get out.
I slam my car door and lock it.
We're staring at each other. I take off my sunglasses.
"I'm sorry." He says.
"Sorry doesn't always cut it, Caleb." I reply, and I turn around and walk towards the school. He jogs after me, walking backwards in front of me.
"Okay, I deserved that." He says. "But you deserve to know why I did it."
"I really don't care." I reply.
He stops walking and I run into his chest and sigh angrily.
"Yes you do." He says. "You care and I know it."
"No I don't." I step around him and continue walking.
"I'm not going to give up." he says when Max catches up with us. "I'm not giving up until I have what I want."
I whip around to face him. "And what do you want, Caleb?"
"I want you." He says.
I stare into his blue eyes for a long time and then I turn around to meet Caleb's brown eyes. His face is hard and stern and his arms are crossed.
"Hi." I say.
"Oh, so you'll talk to me now?" he asks. "Madeline Faith Kennedy, locking yourself in your bedroom and not eating for an entire weekend is not healthy and you wouldn't even let me in! That hurts Madeline, a lot!"
"I didn't not eat." I mutter. "I wanted to be alone."
"But I wanted to make sure you were okay. You wouldn't even let me do that."
"I'm sorry." I sigh. "Don't be mad at me."
"I'm not mad, I'm frustrated, but it's okay. I understand. Some people are just assholes that need to learn that lying is not okay."
That was so a dig at Caleb.
"Look," Caleb walks up. "I know I'm an ass, but I had a reason for doing it."
"Yeah?" Collin steps closer to him. "You made her cry. I should make you bleed."
"Okay." I step in between them, one hand on Collin's chest and the other on Caleb's. "No fighting."
Both boys are glaring intently at each other.
"What's going on here?" Russell demands, glaring at Caleb.
"Nothing." I reply.
