Ever since that night, everything has been different between them, the night they danced and later went up to the rooftop and almost shared a kiss and then this with Justin Hammer and Ivan. Tony was always so protective over Pepper now it was different it wasn't as it was before something had changed between them, they both felt the difference.
Pepper's POV
I walked downstairs to get Tony to sign some papers and give him his morning coffee and an invitation to one of the fundraiser galas. When I walked down he was fixing stuff on his new suit.
"Tony, I need you to sign some papers and you have gotten an invitation for some fundraiser on Saturday, will you attend or should I say no?"
"I don't know, send them a maybe," He said unfocused on what I was asking. I was headed closer to him gave him his cup of coffee. While I was handing over the paper I told him to sign all the papers we got lost in each other's eyes.
"Will, that be all Mr. Stark?"
"Yeah that will be all Ms. Potts"
Tony's POV
Pepper walked upstairs again, I just smiled and continued what I was doing.
"Dum-e what is all these things doing on my workplace?"
About an hour went when Jarvis told me that Pepper had left the mansion to go to her office at Stark industries.
"Jarvis?"
"Yes sir", he said in his British accent
"Can you call Pepper?"
"Of course, sir. Calling Ms. Potts"
I was so worried about her, I need her to call me when she gets home so I know she got there safe and sound. Something had changed since I came back from Afghanistan.
"Hey Tony" she answered not sounding surprised at all but she sounded happy, which made me smile. I will admit I had been a little over-protective lately.
Pepper's pov
"Hey, I was wondering if you could call me when you get home so I know you got home safe you know you don't know what can be hiding in the dark." He said and paused " Or maybe Happy can drive you home or you can just call me when you want to go home and I'll come and get you and take you home?"5 He sounded worried and stressed.
"It's fine Tony. I'll drive myself home and I'll call you when I get home. Promise."
"Okay hear from you later than"
After two hours I decided to take a break to call Natasha to see if she wants to come over for wine later when I have finished work. Nat and I had been hanging out a lot since she was undercover as Tony's assistant.
"Hey what's going on Pepper?"
"Hey, Nat I was wondering if she wanted to come over for wine and little girl-talk."
"That sounds great I'm in need for a little bit of girl-talk and wine, what time?"
"How about eight?"
"Okay"
I was on my way home about seven when I came home I called Tony he didn't answer so I called him again but still didn't answer so I thought that he just didn't have his phone near him and he would call me when he saw that I had called. I got the wine and then just a couple minutes later Nat arrived. We talked for a couple of hours about all different things, work, Tony but we didn't drink that much after all, we had so much to talk about and we ordered some pizza for dinner.
Tony hadn't called me back yet and I had started to get a little worried, so much had happened lately to us and between us. When Natasha left I went into the shower and then I went to bed I was just laying there not being able to sleep. It disturbed me so much that I cared so much about Tony, I mean I've always cared for him, he was one of my best friends, not in this way and I know how he is with women but still, I care for him like nobody else and I think I was falling in love with him and the fact that he hadn't called back got me worried sick. It started to get late the clock had just hit 1:40 am, I decided to just drive to Tony I mean just to check, I needed to check.
