My friend Richard slumped on me like a dead pig sitting right beside me. In an attempt to get him leaning on his girlfriend instead of me, I shoved him off, but he hit me with such force that I fell off the bench we had been sitting on. His girlfriend, Veronica, giggled.

"Shut up, Tetzlaff." I growled, getting up and brushing my suit off.

Veronica stuck her tongue out. "Make me, Taylor."

Richard sat up, blinked a bit, and looked at me and his girlfriend.

"Oh my goodness!" he said; his face was full of joy.

"What, sweetheart?" asked Veronica.

I saw it before her, and, boy, it was beautiful. It was a royal blue, with white details; it's wheels were an incredible black. It seated two men, in which they were talking to eachother.

"It's one of those new automobiles!" I cried, and I ran over to it.

"Roger!" Richard cried.

The automobile was coming right for me; the men were yelling at me to get out of the way. It veered out of the way, knocking me over. Sadly, the vehicle crashed into a nearby building. The two men's suits were scorched, and they spotted me.

"You," one hollered, they began to jog over to me. "Come here, boy!"

I turned and began to run, but not long before someone grabbed me. That person happened to be my father.

"Meddows Tiger Taylor!" he yelled, and I tried to free myself from his grip. I attempted to get to Veronica and Richard; my father held on tight.

"Uh, hi, Dad." I grumbled, finally giving up.

"What do you think you were doing in the road?! You could've been killed!" Father snapped.

"I was going to wave them down," I sighed, putting my hands in my pockets. "so I could look at their automobile." One of the men tapped on Father's shoulder; he turned around.

"Sir, your son jumped in front of our vehicle, and it veered into the building. That car costed a ton of money, and me and Chester here require you to pay for your damage," He said, pointing to the crashed car. "We are paying money already to pay for that damage on that building!"

"How much was it?" Father asked, and the man named Chester whispered it into his ear. I could see my father's look of anger and awe; he looked at the other man, and then me. He grabbed my arm. Richard and Veronica watched as he pulled me away.

"Meddows, you are in big trouble." Father muttered, dragging me towards home.

"I'm sorry!" I cried.

"We're already having trouble with money, and now you go off and destroy an expensive automobile that we have to pay for." he growled, stopping.

"It- it was only this once!" I complained; I knew that was a lie.

"Once? Once?! You 'accidentally' set fire to your sister's hair, caused an avalanche of logs to obliterate the fence in the backyard, smoked tobacco, and now this," Father sighed, and wiped his face. "Meddows, I don't know what to do with you."

I knew what he was going to do. He was going to send me to Uncle Mac, old and cruel, so he could do something with me. Make me work in his endless farmland, maybe feed me to his dastardly dogs. I couldn't take it. I knew he didn't love me.

"I hate you!" I sobbed, and broke free from my dad's grip. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, towards an old barn-like building down Cherry Street.

"Meddows! Meddows, come back!" he cried.

I ignored him, I kept running. When I got to the building, I pulled at the door; it opened. I shut it behind me.

There was a flash of light; that was it.
