Introduce Pop music, Hey Phoebe, we are so lucky to be the first badge of MEP students to have Pop and Jazz included in our syllabus. Do you know that in MEP, we don't just study the music of White Men, but more recent artists such as The Beatles, Alicia Keys...? Etc etc In MEP, we also get to perform pop music...
Phoebe : That's right! Speaking of pop music, we have Yuri, Jasmine and Rae playing Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. This song was popularised by Jonas Blue in 2015 but it was originally written written in 1988 by Tracy Chapman.
Jadyn: That's right! Let's welcome Yuri, Jasmine, and Rae unto the stage!

Phoebe: Wow, that was a really cool piece! And I need some more of these Pop Music! Next up, we have Alex and Jadyn playing Kiss me, a piece written by Sixpence None The Richer. "Kiss Me" is a song released as a single in August 1998, by an American pop rock band Sixpence None the Richer. It is also part of the official soundtrack of the movie "She's All That". To add some fun, they will be performing with a live loop station and instruments. Now, let's invite Alex and Jadyn to come up and present to us their piece!

Phoebe: Moving on, we have Le En, Chrissy and Isabel who will be presenting their DAW presentation on pop music! Let's welcome them onto the stage!

Jadyn: Wow, that piece really blew me away!
Phoebe: I agree! Next, we have Celestine playing a harp solo piece called Petite Suite Prelude in C by David Watkins. his music describes the early morning setting on the serene River Seine with the joyous sounds of birds and cows grazing in the meadows.
Jadyn: Ladies and gentlemen, Celestine.

Phoebe: I was going to say "the best musicians" but ...
Jadyn: It's okay Phoebe, I see how it is! *huffs*
Phoebe: All banter aside, Jadyn and I will be presenting to you a Piano duet "Think of Me" from the Phantom of the Opera.
Jadyn: The musical "The Phantom of the Opera" is the longest running show in Broadway. Famous for its beautiful soundtrack composed by the established Andrew Lloyd Webber, the plot centres around a beautiful soprano Christine Daae who becomes the obsession of a mysterious genius residing in a labyrinth beneath the Paris Opera House.
Phoebe: Imagine having a stalker like the Phantom ...
Jadyn: Well, thank goodness, it's fiction!
Phoebe: Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together as we present to you "Think of me" !

Phoebe: .... Moving on! We have Phedra Low performing Impromptu Op.142 No.3 in B-flat major by German composer Franz Schubert. This Impromptu is the composed in Theme and Variations form.
Jadyn: I Schu-BET that this piece will amaze you!

Jadyn: The next item is a collaboration between the MEP students of MGS and ACS Independent.
Phoebe: Yes. We have Natalie performing in a quintet together with Lareina Lim from MGS, and Aidan Koh, Gregory Lau and Fredrick Suwandi from ACSI performing Rasa Sayang from 3 folk dances rearranged by Kelly Tang, a Singaporean composer.
Jadyn: Without further ado, let's warmly welcome them aboard!

Phoebe: Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to reach our final destination, Arab!
Jadyn: The Secondary 3 MEP batch will be performing a finale item, A Whole New World! It is the theme song from Disney's 1992 animated feature film, Aladdin. Lyrically, "A Whole New World" describes Aladdin showing the confined princess a life of freedom and the pair's acknowledgment of their love for each other while riding on a magic carpet.
Phoebe: While there may not be any love confessions during the performance, we hope that we have taken you around the world of music from our various perspectives.
Jadyn: And now, we present to you our combined performance - A Whole New World.

Jadyn: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, We hope this flight has brought you much joy and wonder, and that it was a special flight like no other.
Phoebe: We MEP students are constantly surrounded by music almost every lesson, and every day, and this concert was a perfect opportunity to showcase our love for music. Music will always be a significant part of our lives, and we thank you for coming down today to share this joy with us.
