Boys are Dumb

Are you on your way Maymay?  I'm starving to death!

Oh hush.  I'm almost there.

As I made my way down the sidewalk to the cafeteria I couldn't stop thinking about William.  I was in college and it was my first day and already I had a boy on my mind.  I seriously must be crazy.  I listened to my shoes click against the sidewalk and my sight wandered the landscape as I followed the path.  I had been so distracted that I had forgotten how hungry I was, but now that I was out of class and away from the heartthrob I was also starving.

I quickened my pace a little to make it to the cafeteria a little faster.  My phone sounded to another message from Vince.

I'm glad because if you weren't almost here I would treat your roommate only to first day of school lunch.

Do it, punk.  I'll pay for myself.

You know I'm your number one fan and it is my duty as your best friend!  I'll be waiting (not so patiently) for you as usual.  We are sitting at the table nearest to the window and the ice cream machine.

Ice cream?!

Ice cream!  I'll make you your favorite when we're done eating.

You treat me well.

I know.

I made it to the front of the cafeteria and scanned the room for the ice cream machine, Vince, and Jade.  It didn't take me long to find them sitting.  Vince when he saw me immediately started waving his arms as high as he could and made every stupid face he knew how to make.  He always made it his goal to annoy me.  I rolled my eyes and sat down at their table.

"I see finally you're gracing us with your presence."

"Oh shut up, Vince," I said laughing.

"Jade and I have already become best friends in the time it took you to get here."

I looked at Jade and realized that she had actually tried to look nice for her first day unlike myself.  She wore a floral patterned dress to match her big curly brown hair and a pair of gladiator sandals.  She wore a light pink lipstick to top the look off, and needless to say she looked gorgeous.  Sitting right next to Vince she appeared kind of like his really hot girlfriend, and I briefly wondered if maybe I should try to play matchmaker for them.

Vince had never really had girlfriends before.  It wasn't that he wasn't attractive, but he went on dates and they never went anywhere.  Vince, who's name was actually Vincent, had a relatively wealthy family and his genetics were also phenomenal.  He was well admired for how modest he was, and in middle school and high school he was the star of his soccer teams.  In fact, he was already one of the best players on the team at our current university.  Despite the fact that he had come to school to study medicine, he still played six different instruments for the school band and orchestra including oboe, french horn, harp, piano, cello, and guitar.  He was intelligent and also a bit of a movie guru.  He looked like a walking advertisement for a store, and his somewhat pointy blond hair was pleasing to look at combined with his shocking blue eyes.  He easily could have went to any school he wanted, and I never did understand why he felt the need to come to the same average school as me.  I went from the tech school to an average university, and at each location he easily made the cut.  He could have went to nearly any school in the country and he still chose to treat me every year on my first day of classes.  He really was an unusual guy.

I looked at him and looked at Jade and decided to shoot my shot.  "Yeah?  Did you guys talk about dating too?  You both look pretty cute sitting next to each other," I teased.
