I began to build more houses as the town started to grow. I kid you not it looked like steampunk England back in the day. Many houses were m smelting ore for us to use in building.
We built a few smaller outposts around the shore and connected them up with supply lines. Some of them had the task of fishing. Some just guarded that location. Some just monitored the sea, perhaps spotting a ship or more.
I was getting really worried that no ship is coming to save us. Eventually I was faced with this fact. No one gonna come and help us. Only work kept me from going nuts and crazy over this.
I really wanted to get out this island. Y'know eating fish and other stuff we farmed really makes me miss good old McDonald's preservative filled burgers and some nice reheated fries.
I made calculations on finding out our location. I failed. Every measurement I tried is just impossible for this place. Even the stars moved differently. The closest I got to figuring it out is, that we are near Venezuela or the Bermuda Triangle. Using the maps I saved from my own ship, we got no where. Maybe it takes some kind of weird factor to get here.
We got up, said "fuck it" and built a port with a shipyard. Would take us a month or so to make a stable and usable scout ship. At least I got the electronics from the Cargo ship for a few more testing purposes. Only the air, the nature and the biosphere and rocks looked like it belonged on Earth. Location wise just... not.
Days later one of our lumberjacks with an arrow in his leg and shoulder crawled back to the town:
"They soon will attack! I saw them! They are stronger, than before!"
I got 20 people and the mined stone from the caves and mines to build a wall, building took a few days from our lives. I had a random bucket fell on my head, which does not feel nice y'know! At least it was empty and did not have rocks or materials in it.
Our "little" island was a treasure trove of minerals. I could have got rich in days just by mining. I think there is/was some minerals that contained everything from cobalt to lead to mercury and uranium. Not at the same spot obviously, but in many different ore veins.
Then the wall was done. It was 5 days of work. Lucky us, the lumberjack heard the time of their attack. He said it starts in 2 days. We prepared for the worst. Some of us mentally, some of us physically. There was a chance that we might all just die and become one with the island's mineral rich soil.
The ground opened up on that night. Maybe they dug tunnels or just crawled directly out of the ground. They prepared to attack as the sun went down.
In just a second like a tsunami, the mobs came and hit our defenses. Many of them simply ran into the spikes and were "taken out of commission". Its pretty hard to run through rocks. Even a toddler knows that, hitting a wall with your head is a pretty bad idea. Took them a while to die out or run away.
At night I also met someone. Later became quite an important character in my life, lets just say that. Yes I know you might be reading this is as well, my dear friend o mine. This part is for you. Hope you like to remember those memories too.
A green thing with bleeding and wounded legs walked to me. I was about to shoot it with my musket. He very much surprised me and talked to me. I did not even expect these creatures to be sentient. Here is what he said:
"I surrender to you, warrior. This worthless battle cost me my friends. I give up. I never hurt your kind, I promise! Please don't kill me! I g-give you anything. I will help against them. Don't slain me."
This creature clearly looked like it could fight no more. I didn't really trust him. We locked him up in a blast proof cell made from steel and iron. He was in there for days, when out of no where he asked to speak with me "The Warrior".
I walked in and we had a chat. He told me about information of them. He asked in return to let him fight with us and he will attempt to stop their battles and something else. I was really skeptical about this agreement. Maybe this is a trap. I went with it and took the risk since keeping a prisoner takes a lot of food and supplies. And slavery is immoral for very obvious reasons, even if this creature was not human.
I asked his name, he replied they don't use names nor anything to call each other by. I named him Creeper Pal, since he is helpful unlike his "friends". He was a weird being compared to his fellow mobs, he wanted a peace agreement with the mobs. He also helped with repairs all over the town by pulling ropes n' stuff in his mouth. It was really hilarious to watch. I would give him 11/10 "you tried" stickers.
Days later, he helped us make a brewery. We used grape seeds from old wine bottles found at my ship to make grape fields and even more, fresh wine. First drinks on the house. Crops grow much quicker on the island.
I didn't mention yet, but I thought the people of Orchid about currency and money, so I was glad they gave the first drinks free this day. Me and Creeper Pal had a few drinks, he easily got a lot of love for wine like me and many others.
Been like 7 months on the island, yet we still had no ships, due to the mob attacks. Creeper Pal had enough and stormed off the town to find them.
I followed him all the way to a massive cave. He went to yell with the leaders to stop them meanwhile, I was hidden at rocks. Didn't go well and they attacked him, I stepped in to help, but they overwhelmed us.
I found a weird brown colored sword, grabbed it and rushed out from the cave. They didn't follow us. I seen their leader too. He looked human enough, but his eyes.. whiter than uh.. a lamp. They were too shiny for me actually see how white they were.
We got back home. Told the town to get ready. Creeper Pal broke a table from how pissed he was at his last "old friends". Eventually he calmed down. Guess our adventures together were about to go to hardcore mode.
We really had to deal with the enemy creatures somehow though.
