"Lexi, look!" My best friend, Vee squealed as she took off her seatbelt and leaned forward in her seat. "Quick, seriously! You're gonna miss it." Her voice came more frantic as she freaked about who knows what. Rolling my eyes, I looked forward, trying to figure out what she was so ecstatic about. I didn't see anything. Just a bunch of kids walking into their doom.

"Am I going blind?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the front of the school building. "Please tell me I'm not, because I'm not seeing anything."

"Yes, yes you are." She said with a sigh, turning to face me. "How do you not see him?"

"Well, considering you just called him an it, I don't see why you're freaking out."

"Jesus Christ, just look." She replied while rolling her eyes.

"At what? Saying it and him isn't going to tell me anything." Just then, a group of people walked into the school and the person she was freaking out about came into view. Ky Milner. Schools football quarterback who currently has girls drooling over him twenty-four seven. It's scary, really. And to know that my best friend is one of those girls is heartbreaking.

"Wow, Vee." I said as I looked over at her. She probably wasn't even listening. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was open as she stared at him. This is painful to watch. "And to think you couldn't get any creepier."

I got out of the car and slammed my door shut, causing some to look in my direction and Vee to finally snap out of her trip to space moment.

"Really?" She asked, shutting the door and rounding the car hood, standing beside me. "That was one time."

"You followed him home." I said as I hit the lock button on my set of keys and walked in step with Vee to the school doors. Her eyes glued to Ky, still. I'm surprised he hasn't noticed yet.

"I needed to know!" She defended herself as she adjusted her bag.

"For what, to tell him of all the times you watched him in class?" A smile formed on my lips as she pushed open the doors, her jaw dropping. We made our way down the hallways, eventually getting to ours and finding our lockers.

"Maybe," Vee said slowly. "He might find it sweet."

"Yeah? I wonder what Parker would think of that." I rose my eyebrows at her and she glanced at me, shrugging her shoulders.

"Hey, if he can talk about how hot Mrs. Conley's daughter is, then I can stalk hot jocks."

"He said that before you guys even started dating." I laughed as she shut her locker, glaring at me. Shutting mine, I clutched my books to my chest as students began to fill the hallways as the clock neared time for school to start.

"He still said it." And with that, she walked away, probably to go and find him.

Sighing, I turned on my heel and began walking in the opposite direction.

--

By fifth period, I was exhausted and ready to go home. Ready to quit school, actually. Shutting my locker, Vee and I quietly made our way to the cafeteria, sitting in our usual spots in the back.

Ever since freshman year, Vee and I made a promise that we'd never sit in the middle, or in the front of the cafeteria. And if one of us decided to one day, we'd have to throw an apple at Chase Dunman's head. I don't know why or how we even came up with the idea, but we agreed to it and it has stuck ever since.

Which of course neither of us ever would, considering Chase is Tori Shae's boyfriend, and she'd kill us if we did. After a fight she got into our junior year with some girl who was 'eyeing' her man, no one ever even bothered to look in his or her direction ever again. Not meaning they didn't steal glances, but, they didn't make it obvious that they were, either.

"I'm starving, and their food looks like those muffins I puked up in eighth grade." Vee said, slouching in her seat. I would usually feel bad for her and offer her my lunch, but, she already decided to get into that this morning. So, we both have nothing.

"Hey, girls." A voice spoke up behind us and Vee's eyes widened, a guilty expression taking over her features. She looked down and mumbled a small hey.

Turning around, my breath hitched in my throat as I looked at Parker standing behind me, his hands stuffed in his pockets. I smiled up at him and he slid into the seat next to Vee.

"Something wrong?" He asked, draping an arm around her shoulder and kissing the top of her head. I tried to ignore the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as I watched the two. It was wrong of me to feel this way, especially to Vee. And if anyone ever found out, I'd lose Vee for good.

"Uh," Her eyes shot to me before she looked up at him. "No, I'm fine."

"Uhm," I spoke up, gaining their attention. Standing up, I gathered my things and pointed to the doors. "I'm gonna go out and eat, catch you guys later." I said quickly, wanting to get away.

"You okay?" Vee asked, taking one of Parker's fries he had in front of him.

"Yeah." I nodded before quickly walking away.

Making my way to the double doors leading outside, I tried to ignore the stares I knew they were giving me as I walked away. I couldn't breath, and I needed to go home.

I usually do my best to avoid the both of them together, but if he decides to start sitting with us, then I'm gonna have to start making excuses everyday. Seeing them together makes my insides go numb and I can't help but feel sick around them. I feel guilty, and there's nothing I can do about it.

He got in my head, and now he won't leave.

--

"What are you doing home?" My mom asked, drying off her hands as she walked into the living room. I shut the door behind me, and set my bag down, looking up at her.

"They were together."

"Honey, you're gonna have to get over your feelings for him sooner or later. Vee is your best friend and that's unfair to her, especially with you not telling her." My mom said as she draped an arm over my should and pulled me close to her small body. Sighing, I leaned my head on her shoulder as we walked into the kitchen.

I knew she was right, it is wrong. And I tell myself that everyday, but I can't help my feelings for him. Every time I see him my hands get sweaty from nervousness and my heart nearly skips a beat. And it crushes me even more that he'll never feel the same.

Parker is Vee's, and Vee is Parker's.
