Seattle, Queen Anne District.....
There he was, the small town delinquent Delsin Rowe, gliding about the city with smoke and fire circulating his forearms like it were nothing. Which only goes to show just how quickly he was able to become accustomed to his new found ability. His countenance was relatively casual with a small touch of keenness and concentration. Suddenly, a familiar tune emits from his phone alerting him he was receiving a phone call.
"Reggie...", He murmurs as answers the call.
"Delsin," Reggie starts.
"Yeah?" he questions.
"I've located another power core relay not too far from you. Maybe a few blocks. I'm sending it to your phone right now."
"Cool, thanks I'll check it out later," he answers in an informal tone.
"Why not now?" Reggie asks.
"(Name) is back in town and I'm going to visit her at her new job right now," he spoke as he lands near an alley; making sure no one was in sight to see him, then began to saunter down the sidewalk making his way to Music Paradise.
"W- wait she's here?" Reggie asks, clearly astounded. "When did she come back?"
"Just yesterday actually, I ran into her after I finished fighting some DUPs," Delsin says as he recalls the first day he saw you back in Seattle after a few months. A certain day he can't seem to forget, as a matter of fact.
"Whoa, wait she knows you're a conduit?"
"No, I don't even think she suspects a thing and I plan on keeping it that way," he said with a determined attitude.
Delsin didn't even want to begin to think about what would happen if you were to find out about his new conduit abilities. Most people don't take it to easy when they find out that their ex-boyfriend became a conduit during their break. Or any person for that matter.
Reggie sighs as he already knows where this conversation is going. "Y'know eventually, she will find out and I think it's best if it came from you."
"Did you forget who her dad is?! He's like a second Augustine except without the concrete power and less hair," Delsin protests.
"Which is exactly why it'd be better if you told her yourself rather than her finding out from her dad that you've been lying to her this whole time."
Delsin smirks to himself as he figures he has found a loophole in Reggie's claims. "Well, technically I didn't lie. She didn't exactly ask me if I was a conduit so therefore-"
"Delsin," Reggie interrupts with an unmistakable tone. Even Delsin could tell he was glaring on the other line.
Knowing Reggie had a point, there was not much Delsin could do. People can only avoid the inevitable for so long but everything catches up with everyone eventually.
Sighing in defeat Delsin nonchalantly speaks,"Okay. Fine. But not just yet, I'm really happy with the way things are between us and I really don't wanna ruin that."
"Already you guys are back together?" Reggie curiously asks.
Much to Reggie's disappointment Delsin replies with, "No we're just friends and we're both pretty happy with that."
"Oh, well that's too good I guess," Reggie says, letting out a sigh. "Being good friends is better than hating each other's guts in any situation."
Delsin contemplates for a few good seconds before beginning again, "Yeah I mean.... we're friends but I don't think I've earned the right call myself one of her closest friends. She wasn't really too stoked to see me when she did."
"Why not?" Reggie asks.
Delsin was really not in the mood to talk about this at the moment. Yet, on a different level he felt that he needed to.
He emanates a sigh before giving Reggie his response, "Well... remember I told you about how I ended things with her?"
"Yeah.. wait, you didn't tell her why?" Reggie asks. Someone seems to be full of questions today.
Delsin emits a light almost nervous chuckle , "Not really..."
"Well why not?" Reggie questions. "Once you tell her, I'm sure she'll understand and the two of you can pick up where you left off."
He shook his head from side to side as he immediately heard the flaws within Reggie's happy forecast. " There's a few faults with that happy ending you just created there, brother. One, I'm a conduit now, things won't ever be the exact same," Delsin spoke, using hand motions to emphasize his point. "And two, we've already established this whole 'friends' thing and we're both pretty okay with that."
"Really? 'Cause it sounds a lot like you're being friend-zoned," Reggie spoke, in a matter-of-fact tone.
"No I am not being 'friend-zoned'," Delsin objects. "In order to be friend-zoned you have to have feelings for your friend and I can assure you, Reg that my feelings for (Name) are completely gone," he says in a straightforward tone. However, it sounded more like he was trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince Reggie. It was so evident that even Reggie sensed it in Delsin's tone.
Reggie knew how Delsin and you felt about each other. He knew how Delsin felt when the time of your departure came. He knew his brother was troubled. And now he knows his brother is being in denial.
"It's not that easy Delsin," Reggie genuinely began. "Especially when it's something like what you two had."
No longer wanting to continue the conversation, Delsin quickly observes his surroundings for a reason to digress from the conversation with Reggie. That is when he spots Isabel's store. "Listen Reg, I'm near the music store she's supposed to be working at so I'll see you later."
"Alright man, good luck."
Delsin ends the phone call with Reggie as he proceeds to walk in the direction of the music store. It was around two o'clock in the afternoon, a time Delsin deemed perfectly casual, not too early, not too late. Once he was at least ten feet away from the entrance his ambling slowly came to a halt. His tranquility was replaced with edginess. Though he didn't want to admit it, he was feeling a bit uneasy about paying you a visit. Perhaps even nervous. Nonetheless he shrugs it off and advances into the music shop.
Delsin confidently opens the door, only to be greeted by you and your co-worker laughing on about embarrassing childhood memories. It would appear in Delsin's eyes that you were having a very good time conversing with your co-worker.
"I swear," your comrade said between breathes since he was laughing so much, "my cousins never invited me back to sleep over ever again after that incident," he finishes his sentence followed by your laugh.
Delsin remembered you mentioned something about working with a guy, Travis was it? However, he didn't know this co-worker of yours was so funny, judging by the way you laughed. He didn't know what to expect of your new co-worker, since you only knew little about him yourself, but he certainly didn't expect him to appear so charismatic. Delsin sent a scowl towards your co-worker's direction as he stood in his same exact spot contemplating as to whether or not he should just leave or stay. But before he could even make up his mind a familiar voice was heard and broke his short musing.
"Oh hey, Delsin. Isabel should really add a bell to that door, otherwise if I hadn't looked I don't think I would've seen you."
OooohhhhhOOOHHHHH is Delsin getting jelly? :3 Well for starters, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter and I apologies for any mistakes that I made and for not updating for a while.
