Chapter 7. If looks could kill

"Exactly how long do you plan on standing there Del? 'Cause I'm pretty sure there's a thing called 'laws' against loitering in Seattle..... but then again you were never really one to always obey laws so...."

Only more silence follows your attempt at breaking the ice. Along with an exchange of glances between Delsin and Travis, Travis and you, you and Delsin, and then Delsin and Travis again. It was evident that Delsin was trying to process something. The only question you had was what? Finally Delsin spoke up.

"Rrrrriiiiggghhhtttt," he simply starts, glancing between you and Travis, then back at the door. "Well it was good seeing ya (Name) and.... (Name)'s co-worker... Bye."

Delsin swiftly turns his body around and reaches out his hand to grab the handle to exit out the store but the sound of your voice stops him just in time, causing his actions to come to a stop.

"W-wait, what? Delsin, you just got here, and throughout the whole time you've been here you've stayed on that one spot," you say as you make your way over to Delsin from your previous spot behind the cash register. Unaware of the exchange of glances Delsin and Travis were sharing. Travis, delivering Delsin a friendly welcoming smile from behind the cash register and Delsin replying with a glower.

"Aren't you gonna stay a bit longer?" you ask.

Bringing his attention back to you, his glower quickly fades as he then begins to answer your question, "What and distract you from all your customers? What kind of friend would I be if I were to do that?"

You, already knowing that the only people in the store at the moment were you, Delsin, and Travis, give Delsin a bewildered expression. It wasn't hard to piece together the fact that Delsin was just seeking an excuse to leave the store. Picked a rather poor excuse at that, but why? Muddled by your stare, he turns his head away from your face to inspect his surroundings and registers that in fact no one else besides the three of you were occupying the store.

"....Smooth," he mutters to in a tone only audible to himself. "Did I say 'customers'? I meant soon-to-come-customers as in they-should-be-here-pretty-soon. I should get going and leave you to prepare-"

"Okay, Delsin? Shut up. Obviously you're just trying to make up an excuse to leave. I-I don't know why, but you're already here so like it or not you're staying here," you proclaim. Not even giving Delsin a chance to react to your words, you immediately grab his left wrist and drag him from his previous spot near the entrance to the front of cash register.

Not only did your sudden act of supremacy astonish yourself but caused a certain Akomish tagger to be left quite stunned as well. Delsin was certainly not expecting you to suddenly take dominance of the situation like that. Truth be told it wasn't very often he's seen you do that during the measure of time he's known you. Yet who's to say he didn't like it?

You approach Travis in front of the counter, dragging behind you a dazed Delsin, and he couldn't help but release a small suppressed laugh, "Jesus (Name) what did you do to him?"

"He's in slight shock, as am I honestly, but that's not important. Now, Delsin meet Travis. He's the co-worker I mentioned I was going to be working with yesterday."

Travis extends his hand out from behind the register and gives Delsin another casual cordial smile similar to his first grin, "Nice to meet you, Delsin."

Delsin looks him up and down while giving him a tentative look as he simply shakes his hand, "Likewise."

Again, more moments pass in silence and you begin to question if forcing Delsin to stay and meet Travis was such a good idea or not. Travis wasn't acting a bit out of the ordinary for his character, if you were to be honest it was actually Delsin acting a bit out of character.
