I was so thirsty that my saliva started to turn into a thick mess in my mouth. I didn't know where there could be water, and I didn't want to test the trees again. So I ran around the complex forest looking everywhere, I tripped on vines and roots. I whacked my head on low hanging branches. I didn't care, all I could think about was quenching my thirst. My mouth was dry, rough, and I thought I was going to die.
After a few hours, my legs felt tired, heavy, and I didn't know if I could take one more step. I collapsed on the ground, waiting to die. Then I remembered my promise to myself. I wasn't going to die. I was going to beat my mother. I was going to show that even though I couldn't show my True Colors, I was still going to show them I was still fit to be Chief. I lied there on the ground, my breathing in an erratic pattern. I was trying to catch my breath. I was trying to live. I looked around gathered my thoughts. I knew that if I went to sleep, I wouldn't wake up. Then my mother, Teela, would win. I couldn't let that happen. I would become the next chief.
As I gathered my thoughts, I listened to the sounds of the forest. Trying to hear a river, a lake, something involving water. I heard crickets chirping, bees buzzing, hooves of animals stomping on the ground, and then I heard it. The sound of rushing water, it was hidden behind the other sounds of the forest. As soon as I heard it, I rushed in the direction of the sound. I turned left, then right. I jumped over vines, roots. I dodged tree branches, and then I saw it. A humongous eighty-foot tall waterfall, that plummeted into a lazy river.
I was on top of a hill looking over this glorious sight, breathing it all in. A doe was drinking water at the edge of the bank with its fawn. Flies and mosquitoes buzzed and swarmed in the middle of the bank. I quietly trampled down the hill, trying not to disturb the doe. I got to the edge of the bank and kneeled on all fours. I sipped the delicious freshwater. I began drinking it like I was trying to drink the entire river. After I was done, I walked over to a large oak tree and leaned against it. The sky was growing dark, and I slept under the shimmering stars.
