The Play

It was 7:30 and Lucy was rushing to get ready and eat breakfast so that she doesn't end up being late to school. "Lucy hurry up." Hannah said. "I'm coming." Lucy said has she was rushing downstairs. "Hurry up and eat your breakfast so I can get you to school I can't be late to work today." Hannah said. Lucy ran to the dinning table and ate a couple bites of her cereal and took a bite out of her toast and then she grabbed her backpack and walked with her mother outside to the car. Lucy eventually got to school before the bell rang. She saw Kyra and Aubrey hanging out so she walked over there. "Hey guys." Lucy said. "Oh hey Lucy." Aubrey said. "Hi Lucy are feeling better?" Kyra asked. "Oh yea I just had a cold thanks to my littler sister." Lucy said. "This is why I am glad to be an child." Aubrey said. "Speaking of child when will your little sister be born Kyra?" Lucy asked. "My mom said anytime now." Kyra said. The bell rang and all three girls went to class. "Hello class I hope you all had a great weekend and I hope you all are ready for this week." Mr.Smith said. No one really listened to him whenever he welcomed them into class. "Um Mr.Smith I wasn't here Friday what did I miss?" Lucy said. "We went over the Pythagorean theory some more all you really missed was a worksheet." Mr.Smith said as he handed her the worksheet. "Ok thank you." Lucy said as she walked to her desk. "Wow what a teachers pet." Alyssa said. "I bet shes sleeping with him." Makenna said. "Class I would like you all to bring in your homework." Mr.Smith said. "Did any of you do the homework?" Sara said. "Who does that  shit anyways." Alyssa said. "Wait we had homework." Makenna said. "Omg your like so stupid." Sara said. "Right back at you beatch." Makenna said. "Alyssa, Sara and Makenna let me guess no homework again." Mr.Smith said. "What do you think." Alyssa said. "It's a shame you choose to waste your education a lot of people can't get an education." Mr.Smith said. "Well there lucky." Sara said. "Welcome back from your weekend Thunder Leopards we have some pretty cool announcements today. First off the football team beat Elk Creek High by 25 to 13 this weekend way to go Thunder Leopards. We are also putting on a school play "Romeo and Juliet" auditions start after school so come on down and show everyone your acting skills! That's all for the announcements for today so make it a great day of not the choice is yours?". "Hey I might audition for the part of Juliet." Alyssa said. "You would make an amazing Juliet." Makenna said. "Yea you would and me and Makenna can audition to be Lady Capulet and and Juliet's Nurse." Sara said. "Omg you both totally should and I'll ask Ben to audition for the part of Romeo." Alyssa said. "Omg you should like totally do that." Makenna said. "This play is gonna be legendary." Sara said.

Lucy wasn't listening to Alyssa, Sara and Makenna talk but she was planning on audition for the part of Juliet herself. Lucy has always been quite found of William Shakespeare's work and "Romeo and Juliet" was always her favorite play ever since she was a little girl. "Ok class today we will be covering more of the Pythagorean Theory." Mr.Smith said as he started writing down equations on the chalk board. Several class periods later and it was finally lunch time. Lucy got into the lunch line and picked up spaghetti and garlic bread with chocolate milk. She payed for her lunch and sat by Aubrey who had a salad like she always does. Kyra then came and sat with them and she had chicken and noodle soup with white milk. No one ever got the chicken and noodle soup except for Kyra it seemed like she was the only one who ever really ate it. "Are any of you gonna audition for "Romeo and Juliet"?" Lucy asked. "I'm not audition I'm not the best actress but I am gonna sign up to help with production." Aubrey asked. "I thought about maybe auditioning for a small part in the play but I think I might help out with production instead." Kyra said. "Oh come on Kyra you should audition for a bigger part." Lucy said. "Well what part are you wanting to audition for?" Kyra asked. "I think I might audition for Juliet." Lucy said. "Omg you totally should you would make a good Juliet." Aubrey said. "Well if you audition for Juliet I could audition for Lady Capulet or Juliet's Nurse." Kyra said. "Aubrey you should audition for a part to." Lucy said. "Should I really?" Aubrey asked. "Yeah I think you would be great in this play." Lucy said. "Ok fine but I will only audition for a small part." Aubrey said. "Ok this play will be so much fun." Lucy said as she took a bite out of her garlic bread. After even more classes later it was finally the end of the day. Lucy quickly rushed to the auditorium to audition. When she walked in she saw a lot of theater kids who looked very passionate about the role. Kyra and Aubrey eventually got there. Lucy walked up to the people who had the scripts with Kyra and Aubrey. "Hello girls what part would you all like to audition for?" One of the theater teachers asked. "I wanna audition for Juliet." Lucy said. " I would like to audition for Juliet's Nurse." Kyra said. "I guess ill audition for Lady Capulet but in case I don't get it can I sign up to help the production?" Aubrey asked. "Oh yes if you sign this sheet right here and here are your scripts break a leg." The theater teacher said with a huge smile on her face. "Ew what are those freaks of nature doing here." Alyssa said. "Omg they better not be auditioning." Makenna said. "If they do they won't get it because they are terrible at everything." Sara said. "Yeah don't worry babe were gonna get the parts." Ben said while giving her a kiss on the cheek. Several minutes later after everyone has had time to practice their lines it was time for the audition. "Attention everyone Attention auditions are going to start now please go back stage and wait in a line and wait till the person in front of you is done audition to start walking onto stage and please be respectful and not talk or distract anyone." The male theater teacher said. "Break a leg everyone!" The female theater said with a huge smile on her face. A couple of people had auditioned and a few were good and a few were bad. Alyssa walks confidently onto stage with her head up high. "Hello dear what is you name and who are you auditioning for?" The female theater said. "I am Alyssa Morrison and I am audition for the part of Juliet." Alyssa said with a smile on her face. She auditions with the death scene. "Yea, noise? then ill be brief. O happy dagger! (she pretends to snatch an invisible dagger) This is thy sheath; (she pretends to stab her self and she falls onto her knees) there rust, let me die (she falls on the ground and pretends to die)". "Excellent Alyssa." The female theater teacher said. "Next!." The male theater shouted. Ben, Sara, and Makenna auditioned by they were as mediocre as Alyssa's audition. "Next!." The male theater teacher shouted. Lucy walked onto stage. "Hi I am Lucy Mills and I am auditioning for Juliet." Lucy said with confidence. Lucy focused and started tearing up. She got on her knees and pretended that there Romeos lifeless body was laying on her lap. "Yea, noise? then ill be brief. O happy dagger! (Lucy pretends to pull out a dagger and look at it) This is thy sheath; (Lucy then pretends to stab herself and while she is doing that she begins to cry) there rust, let me die (she pretends to fall on top of Romeo)" The female Theater teacher was in tears and the male theater teacher was shocked. They both stood up and clapped their hands together. "That was on of the best performances I've seen in a while." The female theater teacher says. "Next!" Shouted the male theater teacher. Kyra and Aubrey auditioned next and they were the last two. "Ok everyone the cast list has been posted on the bulletin board in the hallway make sure you take all of your stuff and make sure you have a ride home." The female theater teacher said. Everyone rushed to get their stuff and run to the bulletin board. There was a crowd in front of the cast list but Alyssa was able to push her self in to the crowd and see the cast list. "ARE YOU KIDDING!" Alyssa shouted as she stormed out of the crowd. "Whats wrong babe?" Ben asked. "I didn't get the damn part but instead I am her fucking understudy!" Alyssa said. "Wait what part did we get?" Sara asked. "I don't know I didn't look for your damn part." Alyssa said. Ben, Sara and Makenna pushed themselves into the crowd to find out that they didn't even have a part. The crowd was pretty much all gone now so Lucy, Kyra and Aubrey could see what part they got. "Yes I got the part of Juliet!" Lucy said with excitement. "I got the part of Juliet's Nurse." Kyra said. "I didn't get a part but I don't really care I'm still in the play production." Aubrey said. Lucy happened to see Alyssa crying while being comforted by Ben and she saw that Sara and Makenna were glaring at her while comforting Alyssa.

Lucy, Kyra and Aubrey walked out the front door of the school. "Do you guys want a ride home?" Lucy asked. "Oh no I'm fine I live close to the school so I can walk." Kyra said. "I'm fine to I can catch a bus." Aubrey said. "Ok well see you guys tomorrow bye." Lucy said while walking to her mom's car. "So why did you have to stay so long after school for?" Hannah asked. "Well the school is putting on a production of the play "Romeo and Juliet" and I auditioned for Juliet and I got the part." Lucy said. "Way to go Lucy this calls for a victory dinner tonight you pick the place and we will go eat there." Hannah said. "Why not Olive Garden." Lucy said. "Olive Garden it is then lets go swing by the house and pick up your Father and Sister." Hannah said.

The rest of the week Lucy had a pretty good reputation since she was the lead female of the school play. They had practice every day after school for 3 months. It was finally time for the play.
