Into Your Heart

°•°•°•°•°

David:

She brought her hand to his face and suddenly a flash of light enveloped them both.

Her fingers glided along with the keys of the old copper piano. Her eyes were closed and a smile played on her lips as she moved along with the fast beat. His own smile stretched on his face as he watched her. She really was beautiful, he thought. Anyone could see that and if not then they were fools. Her personality, however, was something no one could compare to.

He was in love with her but that was something she hadn't noticed. He would always try and gain her attention by flirting with her, but she never seemed to pick up on it. She would joke about how funny he was and that only made his confidence dwindle further. Which made him unable to tell her how he truly felt. So he just joked along with her and tried to hide the pain that ate away his insides and broke his heart constantly.

And even though she didn't know it she broke every one that knew her. They all loved her but she never loved them back. Just like she didn't love him back, at least not like he wanted her to.

It had been three years since they meet. They were introduced by a mutual friend at a beach party. That was the day he first starting loving her.

The truth is he was forced to go to the party. He didn't want to go and he made it clear but that didn't matter. He would have much rather just stay at home and studied, but of course, his friend always had a knack for knowing exactly what to say to make him do what he wanted. The pressure of friends is sometimes too much, he thought. And in this particular case there was a girl involved. A very pretty girl that David had wanted to truly meet for a long time. So maybe, he thought, his friend didn't have as much control over him as he had originally thought. Maybe, just maybe, he had been the one pushing himself to go rather than his friend.

Either way there they were in Travis's truck going to probably one of the biggest parties of the year. There were only going to be around two-hundred people, he was told, and that was enough to make David uncomfortable and make him want to leave and regret ever going long before he ever reached the place.

He looked in the truck passenger mirror as they parked and with slow movements he fixed his hat, a gift, given to him by his late father for his fifteenth birthday. Slowly he moved it to the center of his forehead.

"Hey! Dude, this party is awesome!" Travis yelled.

David looked over at him. How could he know that, he thought, they had just gotten there. He decided not to say anything and instead took a look around the beach where the party was taking place. There was a massive fire in the middle of a bunch of people. They were sitting around it and talking. In the water there were tons of girls dancing and kicking the water at each other. Then a small group of guys came over and pushed them in. Some of the girls shouted as they went down. And, most notably, almost everyone had some sort of alcoholic beverage in their hand.

"Come on man, she's over here," Travis said.

David followed without saying a word. She was after all, his only reason for coming in the first place. And when he saw her nothing else seemed to matter. The world melted away from him and all else was gone except. She was all that mattered. At that moment he could have died staring at her and it would have been perfectly fine with him.

She had sleek brown hair with a hint of blonde that cascaded down her shoulders and a vast pair of brown eyes that seemed to go on forever. He watched her for a moment and as she laughed she used a finger to trace a small group of hairs that fell upon the side of her face back behind her ear. It instantly jumped back out and fell on her cheek again. He smiled. He had no real way of knowing but he believed her heart was made of gold and that she must have been the sweetest thing to walk the face of this earth. To know her in a way he didn't at the moment, a more personal level, well if he had to picture a heaven then he'd build it somewhere around that.

"Yo! Angel, I got someone I want you to meet."

She walked over and smiled at him. And ever since that day they've been great friends. Everything was perfect. Her parents liked him and all her friends thought he was cute and perfect. Everything but one thing. He needed her to like him the way he did her.

He was going to tell her today. At the park, where they always met to talk about stuff. Sometimes just anything and sometimes nothing at all. All their secrets were spilled when they talked for they withheld nothing from each other. well, he thought, maybe his love. He knew everything about her and she knew almost everything about. But he planned on changing that today.

Hey, going to the park. Wanna come? Need to tell you something.

Without hesitation he sent the text. A couple of seconds later he got the text confirming that she was going to come. A smile immediately formed on his face and he hurriedly drove to the destination and awaited her arrival.

While he waited he watched the kids running around playing tag. Their mothers talked, most likely, about the latest drama in their repetitive lives. Some teens were walking around and a couple were sitting in the grass. He sat at the swings, taking the one they always used, and waited. But she never showed up. He waited for hours until the sky turned dark and the stars made their appearance. His eyes began to droop and he decided she wasn't coming.

He never thought she would do it. He had waited for her. He had given up his time and got out of his comfort zone to tell her something so dear to him. Something that made him vulnerable to her and she had the audacity to not show up, even after she told him she would.

But he couldn't be mad at her. No matter what she did, he would always forgive her and that made him angry. His feelings were pushed back to make room for hers. But, he couldn't help it, he loved her and he knew that whatever reason she had for not being there he was going to forgive her.

Later in the afternoon he got a text from her, the dream girl that had stood him up the night before, telling him that she was incredibly sorry and that she was at Jason's house all night. The thought angered him. He hated Jason so much because he was the only one that had ever been able to kiss her. He was the one who had done what he dreamed of but couldn't. David didn't like that. He wanted the attention, but instead, Jason got to do everything with her.

He looked around trying to calm himself down, but nothing worked, he didn't have much in his house not even any plants. Then he spotted a bottle. That would surely calm him down before he left to meet Angelia at the carnival later that night. He didn't want to do anything he would regret and if he was angry he knew he probably would. So, he took the bottle and gulped it down until there was nothing left. He was already starting to feel something. It wasn't better, but definitely different.
