"Hey! Josephine!" A voice calls.

I turned around, meeting Alex.

"Hi Alex."

"Need some help with that?" He asks, pointing to the bags of groceries in my hand.

"I'm fine, thank you though," I smile.

He nods, silently eyeing me before speaking. "There's another party tonight. You should join us," he offers with a friendly smile.

I haven't done anything even remotely fun all week besides sitting on my couch all day binge watching my favorite shows, maybe this wouldn't be such a bad idea. I pursed my lips in consideration, "I'll think about it."

"Cool, I'll send you the address through your phone number if you do come."

"Okay." I place my bags down reaching for my phone, exchanging numbers with Alex.

"Hope to see you there," he says before walking away.

. . .

I threw myself on my bed planning on taking a nap just before a hear a notification coming from my phone. I lift myself up and grab my phone from my nightstand, reading a text from Alex.

From Alex: you coming?

I checked the time, it was only nine at night and I had nothing else to do. As much as I would rather stay at home, I couldn't find myself to make up a decent excuse.

To Alex: I am.

From Alex: Meet me where the last party was. I can drive you to the flat.

To Alex: Okay, thanks.

I pull myself out of my bed before walking into my closet. After running my hand through most of my hangers, I take out a black bodycon dress. It was simple, and had thin straps. I didn't have a ton options so I decided on wearing it.

I curled my hair, creating light waves. I drew a thin black line just above my eyelids, and rake some mascara through my eyelashes. I decided to wear lip balm instead of lipstick, mainly because I didn't own very many.

I pulled on a blue denim jacket—just in case I got cold—and slip into my black heels that had a strap just above my ankle.

Wouldn't be strange if I just made an entrance without knowing anyone at the party? I knew Alex, and Hero—kinda. But not well enough. I grabbed my phone to check the time. I've already spent all this time getting ready, I might as well just show up.

When I get outside if the apartment complex, I spot Alex standing next to another boy who I don't recognize.

"Hey," I say as walk towards them.

Alex's eyes widen as he stares at me for a short moment. "Something wrong?" I ask.

He blinks out of his trance before a smile appears on his face. "Nothing wrong at all." I nod awkwardly, unsure of what to say. "This is Jack by the way, I'm giving him a ride there as well."

We both greet each other before Alex leads both of in into his car.

. . .

When we arrive at the flat, there are tons of drunk boys and girls surrounding the outside. As Alex leads me inside, the loud music immediately clouds around me. I try to distract myself from making any eye contact, focusing on the thumping bass that caused the whole house to vibrate in rhythm. Alex starts to lead me to a large group who's faces I recognized from the last party.
