Randel rolled over onto his back, moaning as Ringo approached him.
"Randel!"
Randel's eyes were squinted shut in response to the intense pain that resonated throughout his body. He opened them when he felt a hand being placed on his back and his head.
"R-Ringo... I... c-can't go o-on m-m... much l-longer..."
John, Paul, George, and Jeremy all walked up besides them, silent.
Randel's vision was beginning to sway, but he could still see who was above him.
"P-please... I h-have... I w-want y-you to... t-to d-do something f-for me..." He said weakly.
"Randel... y-you're going t-to be okay, I p-promise."
Jeremy walked up besides him, catching Ringo's attention.
"I apologize, my friend, but I'm afraid that this is his end..." He stated as he looked up at Ringo. A somber look was on both of their faces.
"Jeremy?"
Jeremy sighed, looking down at Randel, who was now staring at him.
"H-he is r-right... Ringo... I'm s-so... so..."
Randel started to cough, turning his head away from the two. He covered his mouth with his arm as his whole body convulsed .
When he stopped, he saw small droplets of a red liquid on the sleeve of his sweater.
"It seems that he has less than an hour now, so an act of kindness I will allow."
Randel turned his head back to look at Jeremy.
"Jeremy... What w-will happen after... after..."
"He will break down to the base, and..." Jeremy paused when he saw Ringo's expression.
"I see the sadness on your face..."
"S-so... t-that's it? I... I o-only have... I'm n-not going t-to l-live t-through this d-day?"
Randel was breathing slowly, taking in large breaths through his mouth.
"It... seems so..." John said, looking down at him.
The Chief tore his gaze away from the scene and looked down at Max, who was now beside him.
"Yer blueness... what they say is true i-isn't it?"
The Chief sighed and knelt down to hug Max.
"I'm afraid so, Max. But," he pulled away to look Max in the eyes, "I think it's for the better to leave Randel with them."
Max slowly nodded.
"O-okay, yer blueness..."
Randel heard them, but when he tried to speak, he only let out a moan.
"Randel... w-what did y-you want?"
Ringo looked down at Randel, eyes becoming glossy.
"S-see t-that?" He pointed towards the grey pyramid-like structure in the distance, the yellow submarine still resting at the top of it.
"I... I w-want you t-to t-take me to t-the highest l-level you c-can get to. I d-don't w-want to g-go in that s-submarine... I w-want to rest on t-the highest l-level of t-that structure..."
Randel gasped for air, feeling as though he was about to pass out.
"O-of course, Randel. I will."
Just then, Lord Mayor walked up to the group. They all stared at him.
"I know about your previous nature towards Pepperland, Randel. But, I must say that, now, I see you as a friend," He sighed, "It's just sad that you have to go so soon..."
"Especially after you just saved all of us, " Ringo's alter-ego said, "I was worried about how the battle would have gone..."
"We all were, " Old Fred said, walking up next to Lord Mayor.
"T-thank y-you all... b-but it is n-not only m-me who y-you should be thanking... R-Ringo..." Randel tried to continue, but upon saying Ringo's name, more pain shot through his body, making him groan.
"Of course. Ringo, thank you for everything you did. If it weren't for you, we would all probably be wounded right now..."
"Well, your welcome Lord Mayor," Ringo said as he pulled away from Randel.
"S-so... y-you don't s-see m-me as an e-enemy a-anymore?" Randel asked.
"No. We don't see the blue meanies as ones either, " Lord Mayor answered.
The Chief, who had his hand around Max, spoke up.
"And we don't see any of you as ones either."
Both the Chief and Lord Mayor smiled at each other.
Randel began to cough again, turning his head away. He did not have enough energy to move his arm this time.
Once he was done, he turned his head back to Ringo, who was looking down at him once again.
"R-Ringo... p-please... y-you n-need to take m-me there now..."
Ringo's eyes widened.
"Y-yes, Randel."
He wrapped his arms around Randel, picking him up off of the ground and holding him bridal style.
"I'll carry you."
Randel smiled a him.
"G-good... I d-don't think I h-have the e-energy t-to walk..."
"We'll go with you," George said, gesturing to John and Paul, who both agreed.
"A-and o-one more t-thing..." Randel turned his head over to Lord Mayor.
"C-can you h-have t-that band play w-when we g-get up t-there, p-please?"
Lord Mayor, looking sympathetically at Randel.
"Yes, Randel."
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band smiled.
"A-any song, it c-can b-be..."
Randel buried his face in Ringo's chest, the moisture from his eyes being transferred to Ringo's tie in the process.
"So, lads, shall we be goin' now?" George asked.
"Yes, " John replied.
Paul nodded.
Ringo glanced down at the man in his arms before talking.
"Now's p-probably the b-best time to go..."
"Can I go with you? I want to go too."
Paul looked down at Jeremy and grabbed him, holding him up against his chest.
"Yes."
"G-go now... I c-can f-feel myself g-gettin' w-weaker..."
Randel's distorted voice was quiet, but they all could still hear it.
The Chief watched as the group walked in the direction of the structure in the distance. Once they were out of speaking distance, he sighed and walked towards Lord Mayor, bringing Max with him.
"Lord Mayor... I should apologize t-"
"You don't need to, yer blueness. We all forgive you."
Lord Mayor smiled at him.
The Chief smiled in return.
"So... should we go gather our instruments now?" John's alter-ego asked as he and his friends walked up to the pair.
"Of course," Lord Mayor answered.
The band walked away as well to get their instruments.
"Well... I'm sure we'll all enjoy it, am I right, Max?"
"Yes, yer blueness."
Lord Mayor looked towards the pyramid-like structure in the distance, spotting the small group that was walking towards it.
He sighed.
"I'm sure he'll enjoy it, too."
