Chapter Thirty: The Day After Tomorrow

Lottie's Point of View

"Last ... Train ride ... Ever." Alex said as we walked out of the dorm room, just slow enough to let every letter sink in. Shit. Yeah, it was the last train ride. I'm 17 years old. I'm twenty in three years. I'm going to die at some point. Oh my--

"Fucking hell." I exhaled slowly as we entered the common room and Hermione joined us. She and Alex stared at me,

"And that unexpected, explicit input was brought to you by Lottie." Alex nodded then laughed,

"Sorry, just ... Crisis." I shook my head, "What was--"

"I was about to say good morning and ask you both what's going to happen at breakfast." Hermione informed me, "What with Umbridge getting carted off and Dumbledore and all that ..."

"Shit." Alex finished for her. I rolled my eyes, "Hey, you haven't done that in a while."

"How do you feel about leaving today?" Hermione asked as Ginny joined us,

"Pretty calm." I shrugged, "Not too happy but then not fully upset at the same time."

"Wasn't you crying last night?"

"No." I defended myself quickly. Alex's mouth twisted into a smirk,

"I can't believe you're both leaving actually. It's quite crap if you ask me." Ginny said, curling her lip slightly. I looked at her and laughed lightly,

"We're all too old now, we've got to leave it to the younger generation."

"Speak for yourself, woman. I've still got at least forty years of life left in me."

"Forty years?" I raised my eyebrows at Alex, "You're going to die at ... 57?"

"78 actually." She corrected me, "Born in, die at."

"Remind me I need to book an assissin for 2056, Gin. You too, Lottie. Got any particular dates for death in mind?" Even Alex laughed at Hermione. I think she was amazed at where her sass had popped up from,

"I'd like to make it to 100." Ginny said, "Lot?"

"I just need to live until Hermione gets this assassin then I can die happy, that'll be fine." I nodded, folding my arms as we walked. We entered the hall and took four seats opposite Harry, Ron and Neville,

"So what's going on then?" Ginny was the first to ask,

"Nothing yet." Ron began catching us up, "All the teachers are here besides McGonagall, Hagrid and Umbridge. No one's been called to attention, nobody seems to have moved, and there's still no bloody food."

"Well, Umbridge is somewhere in the forest. We all know that." Hermione said,

"Hagrid is just Hargid, bless him. He could be anywhere, doing anything."

"Or just a lil late." Alex followed my statement, "And as for Minerva, she's deputy. If there's no standing headteacher and Dumbledore isn't going to turn up, I guess she's going to run things."

"When did she come out of Mungo's?"

"Dunno, but I see her walking about the entrance yesterday afternoon when I came back from the library." Hermione answered Ginny,

"Couple of days." I estimated, "Anyway Alex, haven't you given that death thing a bit too much thought?"

"I've had a lot of free thinking time in the past few weeks. I've also got a plan should we need to execute the twins without them bleeding."
