It had been about a year since Dr. Membrane and I met. It was a simple relationship ever since i had moved in next to his hectic household. He had 2 kids and a clone to deal with, so they obviously had an odd dynamic next door. Me on the other hand, i was alone. Cripplingly so, even. But that was made somewhat better by the eccentrics next door. I enjoyed watching their antics, even wishing I could be a part of it. And I have been part of them before. Like the few times where their cooking robot foodio 3000 had gone to get repairs from membrane labs, and you had to cook for them since Dr. Membrane had practically destroyed the kitchen. I always enjoyed being around them when you could be, especially Dr. Membrane. There was something about his person. Something about him set this, you could say, "passionate" flame in me. After the kitchen incident at his house, you two talked for a while. It was at most casual conversation but I loved being around him. I wished that we could be something more than just neighbors.

The sun rose from the horizon. My eyes flickered open while I was nestled in my blankets. The second that I came to, I could hear hectic yet comedic shouting from next door. Chuckling, I slumped out of bed and walked downstairs to start making a cup of (coffee or tea or whatever floats your boat). I looked out through your kitchen window into the Membrane household next door. It seems like they had another kitchen issue. Membrane hurried out of the house. My heart instantly sank because I knew he was coming over to ask for help. I scrambled upstairs to get on a decent pair of clothes. As I was fumbling to get my shirt on, the doorbell rang.

"One second!" I shouted from upstairs.

Practically sailing down the stairs, I rushed to the door and flung it open to see Dr. Membrane towering over me. He looked like a mess; covered in food and his hair ruffled. He had a concerned look of defeat on what you could see of his face.

"Hello, (Y/N)!" He spoke in his grand voice. "I had a bit of another issue in the, uh.. kitchen."

He had a light blush peppered on his face. Either out of embarassment, or seeing me.

"Do you need me to help out?" I offered while already knowing what to do.

"Err, yeah. That'd be appreciated." He said, admitting to defeat. "I can pay you back though, name your pri-"

"No need! Just helping is good enough in itself." I smiled at him kindly. Honestly, being near him was enough to pay me back.

"Ah, well follow me!" He said kindly in his deep voice.

I followed him briefly across the sidewalk and up to the door. I walked in and saw the massive mess that had been made. Gaz and Dib were standing in the kitchen doorway bewildered that their dad could create such a disaster, since this beat the messes in the past by a longshot.

"Uh, do you need me to clean the kitchen first?" I asked him. In reality, I didn't mind if I had to.

"No, no. Of course not. Hold on a moment." Dr. Membrane said, stepping back. He took me by the shoulder and very gently guided me backwards. His touch sent a shiver down my spine.

Out of some random compartment in the wall came a small robot that looked like a roomba. It instantly flew across the kitchen, climbing up walls and cleaning every crevice. When it was done, it slithered back to where it came from in the wall. I stood there fascinated as the kitchen was squeaky clean.

"Oh jeez" I mumbled, bewildered. "Anyways, i'll get to it."

For the next half hour, I started cooking omelettes for everyone. One by one you served up each omelette to each household member. When it came to Dr. Membrane though, you made his extra special. You made sure to make everything about his omelette perfect. After perfecting everything. You slid him his plate and slid him a smile. He put his fork under the neck cuff of his labcoat and took a bite. He seemed to love it.
