In all aspects, Jisung's life seemed great to the outside world. He had loving parents, amazing friends. There couldn't be anything wrong with him since he seemed so picture perfect.

He was always the happy-go-lucky kid who had a smile on his face, not caring about the world around him even when it tried to put him down.

That was until one fateful day, he started to break.

Nothing, in particular, sparked it. He simply started to feel a weight pressing on his back even though nothing was behind him, pushing on him.

No one noticed, he kept the smile on his face. Behind the smile, he was alone with his thoughts.

He thought about how he was worthless. How no one would notice if he was gone because he was just a background character in everyone else's lives.

No one noticed the day his smile started to fade.

It was gradual. Every day his wide smile fell further and further to a blank expression. No one saw the light fade behind his eyes.

No one noticed the day he went quiet.

His friends went off, living their own lives, barely noticing when Jisung wasn't with them. The kid, known for his smile, had been forgotten.

He felt alone.

His final year of high school rolled around, he made new friends. Ones that never knew about the smile on his face. Ones that would've been shocked to see even the corner of his lips turn up slightly.

"Jisung! How've you been, mate?" Jisung's Australian friend, Felix, said as he bounced over to the boy.

Jisung shrugged, Felix simply taking it as the usual answer. He thought it was just how Jisung operated. A quiet boy in his own world.

"Chan-hyung said he's coming back to visit! He's bringing his new boyfriend and his college roommate!" Felix said excitedly, jumping up and down.

Jisung simply nodded. Another usual answer that Felix just accepted.

"Come over to my place this weekend. He's coming today but he'll be taking his boyfriend and his roommate all over town to see where he grew up," Felix continued, bouncing next to his quiet friend.

"Sounds good," Jisung said, turning a corner down the hall to get to his last class of the day, Felix going off to his that was at the opposite end of the hallway.

Jisung sighed, stepping off of the bus and making his walk home. It wasn't a long walk, though he still hated that he had to go up a long hill.

Trudging his way up, he finally made it to the top where his house sat. He pulled out his keys and unlocked the door, entering the empty home. His parents were still at work.

He closed the door behind him, slipping off his shoes as he went straight to his room. He dropped his bag on the floor and jumped on his bed, pulling out his phone to scroll through Instagram.

After a few hours, he heard his mother enter the door.

"Jisung! I'm home!" his mother called out.
