To my dearest readers that had waited patiently through my long hiatus, thank you so much. You have no idea how much it means to me to read your comments. Covid and first-time motherhood had not been easy for me, but your requests and encouragements had made me inspired to return to complete this series. Some changes I have made from this chapter onwards would be that I'm changing the reference of the 'King' as an 'Emperor', therefore a kingdom to an empire. Why? Because it's just cooler xD
I plan to update weekly for this book, so sit on tight, and enjoy the ride!

"Yes, Your Highness," Moren greeted behind the bamboo screen."What are the reports for our investigation of the Blood Lotus Sect?" Shou asked from his steaming bath. He made it a point to be properly cleaned once every two days at least. He refused to join the rest to bathe in the cold river. Why suffer when more of those awaited in wars.
"Replying to Your Highness, our latest intel tells us that one of their high-ranking members will be present in the Qingzhu village tonight."
"Tonight? During the Moon Goddess Festival?" Shou asked.
There was a long pause.
Moren was torn between bring absolutely shocked or impressed that His Highness, the cold Dark Prince of the Li Empire, was actually aware of such folk festival that he would normally have regarded as nonsense. His Highness even once forgot the Emperor's birthday, let alone a romantic commoners festival. Thankfully that time, Moren had already prepared a gift in advance for the Emperor.
"Y-Yes, Your Highness. The target is said to have scheduled a seat in the Red Flower Theatre, two hours after sunset. I have prepared our men to disguise themselves as noblemen to infiltrate the place when it is time. Your Highness can rest assured that we will bring back good results –"
"That won't be necessary," Shou said as he stood up from his hot bath. He tied his robe around his body and strode towards the bedroom.
"But Your Highness, it is such a rare chance that the Blood Lotus is finally making their appearance in public. We must strike our chance when we can!" Moren pleaded carefully. He knew his highness never liked to be opposed, but occasionally he did listen to wise counsel.
"Indeed. That is why I would be the one there to catch him."
"What? But your highness, you have a curfew –"
"Around sunset, reduce the guards at the southwest wall, if possible have them disappear altogether during that time."
"Wall? Your Highness, if you leave through the main gate, none of the guards would even stop you. Why trouble yourself unnecessarily?"
Shou looked at the noblemen clothes laid out for him, choosing a color he thought might suit him best. Moren stared at his prince as the puzzle began to pieced together by their own. His law-abiding prince who had never broken a single military law in his life, was going to sneak out of camp tonight.
Seeing how dumbstruck Moren was beside him, Shou smirked and replied his hanging question,
"Because tonight, I do not intend to leave the camp as a prince."
