**Nate's POV**
Thunder boomed from outside the diner windows as I ignored the conversation Jeremy and Paisley were having right in front of me.
The look that Bryson gave me as he led My Princess to the car was unreadable but I knew that he had something planned.
The douche bag is trying to take Skylar away from me..
"Um dude.. You okay?"
Jeremy snapped me out of my thoughts and I looked up at him
"What?"
"You have a fucking death grip on your drink, what is your problem?"
Sure enough, when I looked down, my knuckles were white and the plastic cup was slightly pushed in.
Damn..
"I'm fine." I mumbled, looking down at my uneaten food.
"You aren't fine Nathan, what is wrong, you've been so different lately."
I just shrugged my shoulders and didnt reply.
A look of disappointment was given to me before they continued with their conversation.
Maybe two minutes later my phone went off, making the silent diner echo.
Bryson
End call.
"Who was that?" Jeremy asked.
"No body."
The sound echoed through the diner again.
End call.
Paisley looked at me funny before looking at her vibrating phone.
"Hello?"
I could her frantic voices and sirens on the other end of the line before Paisleys eyes got huge and she gasped.
"We're on our way."
As fast as she could, money was slammed on the table before she pushed her chair back and was about to get up.
"What's wrong?" Jeremy asked.
"Skylar is in the hospital. She got in a car wreck."
Instead of directing the answer to Jeremy, she looked straight at me.
Everything stopped.
It was as if my whole world died.
Everything was frozen in place as my head filled with negative thoughts.
Is she dead?
Is my son dead?
"Where are they?"
"Saint Jude's."
**************
When I saw the ER, I didn't even care that I parked in a no parking zone before racing inside.
Fuck a ticket.
The lady at the desk looked startled as I sprinted up to her "Where is Skylar Bradley?"
She typed something on her computer before looking bac up "Who are you to the patient?"
"I'm the baby's father." I growled.
She nodded her head before standing up and pointing down a long hallway.
"I'm sorry but you can't go to her, doctors are about to have surgery but there is a waiting room right down there that family members can wait in."
"Okay." I said before speed walking down the hallway.
The first person I saw was of course the dick himself and no one else was in the room so of course I went up to him before lifting him up by his shirt.
"What. The hell. Happened." I growled, tightening my grip.
His eyes went wide. "I didn't do anything I swear. She was pulling out of my driveway and a car t boned her."
His face held no sign of lying as I studied it before letting him go.
Bryson took in a deep breath before rubbing his throat and glaring at me as he sat back down in his chair.
****************
It seemed like hours before the doctor finally can in.
"Skylar Bradley?"
Immediately, I stood up and glared at Bryson who was about to stand up also.
"Who are you to the patient?"
"I'm the father to her baby." I said.
He looked at me for a second before looking down at a clipboard.
"Well it's hard to tell if Skylar's body is going to put itself in a coma or not. Based on what side the car hit her, Skylars left arm is broken and will have a cast out on it. Now for the baby."
I sucked in a sharp breath.
"We aren't sure if he will make it. Based on how much pressure was on Skylars body, and how much blood she lost, we are going to have to have a sea section if there is any hope of saving that baby's life. Because of it being a premature birth, the lungs aren't completely developed so if he does make it, he will be on machines for a few hours before he can breath by himself. The surgery will be in ten minutes if you free to let us proceed."
I looked up and tried to keep my vision clear, already letting it fail miserably.
"Just do what you have to, to keep them alive."
******************
Five hours.
Five hours since I even heard a peep of anything happening.
I don't know if either of them are alive or if either of them are both dead just a few rooms down.
A couple of hours ago I broke down and had to have doctors hold me down after I broke two flower vases.
Yeah, I kind of lost it..
Could you blame me?
No.
Jeremy walked up to me and plopped a back pack on the ground in front of me.
"The nurse said you can use that room." He said pointing to a closed door "She won't want to see you like this."
If she's even going to see me.....
He was right though, my hair was all jacked up from running my hands through it, my face had tear stains and my clothes were all dirty from using them as tissues for my tears and when the doctors wrestled me to the ground.
Those guys are pretty strong....
I'm sure my breath smelt like ass too......
That's disgusting.
I haven't eaten since yesterday morning, so my stomach had been grumbling non stop, but I didn't care.
I nodded my head before grabbing the bag and tossing it over my shoulder, walking into the empty room.
