A small cry filled my ears as I woke up the next day and I smiled before opening my eyes.
Thanks to the curtains, it was still dark in the room, but a light was on by the doorway.
Everyone in the room was asleep except for me and I found a small hospital crib next to my bed with a crying Kaden.
He's so precious...
I sat up before picking up the baby and holding him up to me.
"What's wrong baby?" I whispered, kissing his forehead.
He continued crying, and I didn't know what to do, so I stood from the bed before silently walking to the door.
How no one woke up, I will never know.
The hallways were pretty empty when I walked out, so it was easy to get to the desk.
A nurse there looked at me with worry "Is everything alright?"
"I don't know, he won't stop crying.." I said.
She took Kaden from my arms before examining him closely. "Has he eaten yet?"
"Um.... No?" I said.
She smiled "He just needs to be fed. Do you know how?"
I smiled shyly before shaking my head "No idea."
"That's fine. We can go somewhere a little.. Less private and ill show you."
I nodded my head and she led me to a small door next to the desk.
As the lights flicked on, I was greeted by a small room that had couches and recliners with a big tv at the front of it all.
"This is kind of like our lounge, but no one is gonna be in for about another hour, so we can do it in here."
I nodded my head and sat down on the sofa.
"So what now?"

About twenty minutes later, I had successfully fed and burped Kaden and I have to say.... I feel pretty damn accomplished!
I thanked the nurse who I learned her name was Ashley before walking out of the lounge and back towards my room.
Everyone was still asleep when I walked in except for Nate who was sitting up in the bed.
"Where were you?" He asked, standing up and walking up to me.
"I didn't know how to feed him.." I mumbled, looking down in embarrassment.
"Oh." He smirked.
"Yeah. Oh!" I playfully glared. "Hes fine."
He smiled before moving a piece of hair behind my ear. "Who said I was just worried about him?"
A blush rose to my cheek when I heard that and I focused my attention back on my son who was in my arms now sleeping.
"Well he's all good now and I don't know if I can sleep. Wanna go down to the cafe?"
"Sure. Wanna change him first?"
It was then I noticed that Kaden did stink. He must have just pooped.....
I looked at Nate with a raised eye brow and he smirked. "Yes?"
"Who's doing it?" I grinned.
He sighed and smiled " I guess ill change little man.."
So that's how the next ten minutes went and I still don't know how everyone managed to stay asleep as I laughed when Nate kept complaining about how bad it stunk.
Finally he finished and I dug out a blue striped onside from my bag that had a monkey hoody and feet before slipping him into it.
So freaking adorable....
That being done with, Nate grabbed his wallet before we left the room and went to the elevator.
Only a few people were in the hallway seeing as how it was five in the morning, but almost all of them smiled at us and commented about how cute Kaden was.
I don't blame them...
Those big blue eyes and dark brown hair just make him look like an angel...
After a comfortable silence I the elevator, we stepped into the small Cafe and went to the register.
An older woman was behind the counter as Nate bought us both a double chocolaty chip Frap.
Yum...
While waiting for those to get done, I found a booth by a window that shows into the hospital garden and waterfall before setting Kaden into my lap and playing with his little fingers.
When our drinks were done, Nate walked over with them before sitting down in front of me.
We sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before Nate said "I like this."
He was looking at his drink.
"I do too. Its delicious."
He sighed and looked up. "No, Sky, I mean I like THIS. I like when we hang out and are perfectly normal. Not when we argue and ignore each other, I like this."
I looked at him and nodded my head "I like it too."
"Then why can't it always be like this?"
I gulped "You know why."
"I do. And if you would let me explain, then in sure we could be like this."
"Fine. Give me one explanation why I should even consider getting back with you."
Nate's face lit up at that comment and he straightened his back and cleared his throat.
"Okay. Let me start at the beginning." He said and I nodded my head. "Well as you already know about Rodriguez. I broke his leg, ruining his fighting career and made him go broke and he turned to drugs."
I held my hand up "What does Cal- Rodriguez... Have to do with any of this?"
"Will you just listen?" he sighed.
I nodded my head and Nate continued.
"The night after I brought you to the rink for the first time and met him he sent me a message about you. It didn't say much, but the threat was clear that he was gonna try something on you."
That was after we had sex for the first time....
"I though of ways to protect you and the only thing I could think of is to leave you, break your heart so you don't come running back to me, and treat you bad. I did it all thinking that Rodriguez would think I don't like you and leave you alone, but I was wrong. By not being with you, it made you an easier target to get because I couldn't protect you."
I was looking down at my nails as he spoke feeling really guilty for some reason.
Kaden stirred in my arms and I smiled down on him before looking back at Nate who was watching me intently.
"So?" he asked.
"So what?"
"What do you think? That was my explanation."
I looked down at my hands and sighed "I just don't want to be hurt again Nate."
"I would never hurt you. I did once but ill never make the stupid mistake again." he anything but plead.
I studied his face before sighing "How about we just start out as friends for now?"
A hint of disappointment flashed across his facial features but it left as soon as it came and he nodded his head before holding his hand out.
"Friends."
