Chapter 26

Chapter 26: Out of Mind

As their eyes met something snapped in Kanda. She looked so helpess... So weak... So scared..

So lost....

Something took control of Kanda and soon, before he could protest with his bodies actions, he got down to her level and brought her to his person in an embrace. 

Surprised, Dominique's eyes widened. She was to say the least, startled by the action but didn't protest it. Slowly, her arms wrapped around him. Laying her head on his shoulder, she closed her eyes. Tears still fell down her pink cheeks but she didn't cry; a small smile on her lips. She oddly, in her opinion, found comfort in his arms. She basked in the warmth radiating off him against the exposed parts of her body. 

Kanda gave up figuring out why he was hugging the former enemy when she stopped shaking, and now was thinking. Reavaluating his opinions about her. She wasn't a cold-hearted, sadistic, and mental Judas Woman. She wasn't really a threat... She was just as human as he was. With her own hardships, her own family, her own reason to be fighting, her own fears... She had emotions. Her own secrets as well. 

After about 5 minutes in that position a knock came at the door. Faster than you could blink, the two seperated from each other and went to opposites walls of the room as the door opened, revealing the unsuspecting Finder that had accomponied them on this mission. 

"Ahh, Sir Kanda, Miss Minora. I'm glad you both look well." He smiled at the two. 

"It's nice to be alive, Aaron." Dominique replied to the Finder, who in return nodded at her. 

"The doctors say that the both of you are able to leave tomorrow morning, but they wish to keep you both overnight just in case." 

"Okay." After agreeing, the Judas woman left briskly out the door. 

Kanda though, uncharacteristically, nodded in agreement and went back to settle into his bed. 

The Finder, unbeknowest to what had happed before he entered the room, looked at him confused. And being the idiot he was at times, he voiced a thought, "Did something happen between you and Miss minora?" 

"NO!" Kanda growled and in fear of being cut down by said exorcist, the Finder left. Shutting the door in his wake. 

-Later-

Night had fallen, the finder had left to an Inn, and the Hospital was now dark and it's only inhabitants were it's sickly patients that were nestled in their beds, enjoying their peaceful dreams. 

Well... 

Except two. 

Dominique laid on her back in her bed, staring up at the ceiling with indifference. She was profoundly annoyed by that fact. You want to know why she can't sleep? 

She can't sleep for two reasons. One being that she doesn't want to be reminded that her fiancee is gone and she will always be alone and so will his daughter, forever wondering if he had died. And two, she couldn't stop thinking about what had happened earlier that day. Whenever she thought about it her heart started racing and her stomach felt funny. "Stop." She growled as she shook her head to attempt to rid herself of those thoughts. 

"What am I doing?..." She said, her voice soft and filled with wonder. "Why do I feel this way?..." She asked. The question lingering in the air as if it was the atmosphere. The silence was defening to Dominique and she wanted nothing more than to go back tot he Order and drink her problems away. 

Her eyes widened in realization, "Is that what I've come down to? A lowly drunkard?" She sat up and blanched, "Oh God... I'm becoming Teresa and Eduardo... " She said horrified.
