The next four months passed by quickly. Every Wednesday Steve would drop Gen off at work and take her out to lunch. And every morning they'd jog together, sometimes Steve would join Gen for coffee after their morning run. It became part of their routine. Gen often went out with the team and she'd become one of them, even though she was the youngest in the group.
This particular morning was cold and Gen had been under the weather the past few days, she even took a few days off of work. Jerry had taken it upon him to bring her soup.
Gen heard rustling in the kitchen and thought that Jerry had came in earlier than usual. She smelt the faint smell of bacon and pancakes and couldn't help but wonder down the stairs and into her kitchen. But it wasn't her loving brother who stood in her kitchen but Steve. He was chopping up some sort of fruit that looked delicious.
"What are you doing in my kitchen this early in the morning?" Steve gave her a dismissive look and motioned to the cup of tea on the table.
"I don't like tea," she said snarkily hugging her t-shirt closer to her body. Steve placed a plate before her and sat down across from her.
"It's going to help with the cold, I also brought you some medicine, Jerry told me you were sick. Now eat up and then I want you to go lay down." he popped a berry into his mouth pouring himself a cup of coffee.
Gen looked at him with the oddest expression, she couldn't wrap her head around the thought that Steve stood in her kitchen like he owned it, ordering her around. It made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. Steve looked at her expectantly and she began eating.
After she was done he cleared their plates. She followed him to her living room where he had made her a bed on the sofa. She smiled at him and thanked him for everything.
"It's fine, I have the day off so I thought I'd look after you, I wouldn't want you to miss our lunch Wednesday." he sat down at her feet pulling the blanket over them. He placed her feet on his lap feeling her icy cold toes.
"You cold?" he asked, she nodded sleepily at him. He got up and grabbed another blanket from the hall closet and draped it over her. It wasn't long after that she was softly asleep and Steve was stuck looking at her sleeping figure.
To him she looked rather uncomfortable so he carefully placed her feet down on the sofa and took her into his arms. He carried her into her brightly colored bedroom placing her in her bed. He pulled her blankets over her and in that moment he knew that he was completely and utterly fucked.

"What do you want?" Danny asked opening the door for Steve. The moment Steve stepped through the door Danny knew something was wrong, his shoulders were tense and his fists clenched and he kept pacing.
"I've got a problem. A huge fucking problem," Danny looked at Steve bewildered, Steve bit into his fist his breathing rigid.
"What's wrong Steve?" Danny placed a calming hand on Steve's shoulder and he could see the confusion in his eyes.
