The next day, Jack was alone with his wife. He kept seeing something that was troubling her to a great extent. Many times he was longing to ask her what was wrong, but something profound inside him was confining him from communicating. Before it became noon, he thought to use his military tact to get her to talk. He had done so before at the SGC many times.

Sam sat in his lap and said,
"I'm sorry to have you in the middle of this, Jack."

"I'm always in the middle. I hate being alone — especially
after my P.O.W. ordeal. If anyone can understand half of what
you have been through, it would be me."

She wielded her Force powers on all he went through as a P.O.W. With great apprehension,
she said,
"Oh my God! He attacked you. How in the hell did you live through it?"

"Should you say she attacked me?"

She snorted,
"I don't know who did this to you, but I feel the Dark-side — in it
as much as it was on me in a galaxy far, far away."
She hesitated,
"We know he went after Daniel. It must be the ancient Jedi Knights
that protected Teal'c. He is the only one the Dark-side hasn't attacked."

"Who said he wasn't? He was working for that damn Goa'uld,
Apophis. As far as we know, working for that evil e chu ta could
have been a means to destroy him. For a Jaffa to leave his lord,
it had to be something big."

"Perhaps, like Master Bra'tac was Teal'c's anchor in the storm,
Hothok and Master Tumok served the same purpose for me."

He smiled,
"I have a brilliant suggestion: why not spend time with Teal'c and
learn all you can about his years of being with the Ancient Jedi
Knights. Never know, they could have told him all this for you to
learn to deal with all you have been through. You're still hurting,
despite Susan's help."

She smiled back,
"You have a wonderful suggestion. Father said nothing about Teal'c.
He only mentioned this Drake character. If I got some Ancient Jedi Knights..."

"I didn't say you arranged all this."
He got another idea to pop in his head. With an optimistic face,
"Could it be this Drake character sent these Jedi Knights to Teal'c?"

It inspired her by what he said,
"It could be, sweetie. Wow! Jack, you have some superb ideas."

He gave a wholehearted smile,
"I have a drawer full of them."

She laughed and cuddled with the man she loved since she first laid eyes on him — so long ago.
She said,
"I want to know what you went through more than going back to my
past. I have been there already. To tell you the truth, love, I don't want
to be there anymore."

"I think you should deal with what you went through. If Teal'c can
help you, then you need to spend time with him, first — yes?"

Sam moaned,
"It would be great to end this once and for all."
She was in deep thought for a long moment.

"Pennies for your thoughts."

"With all, I have been thinking, you don't have the money."

He gently and lovingly grabbed her chin and pulled her face towards his. Moments after, he gave her a deep, passionate kiss that felt like it lasted endlessly. Afterward,
he asked,
"Is that a good down payment?"

After the kiss, it left her speechless for a good spell.
She said,
"WOW! Yes. I think I will need to give you change."
After forcing her mind on what they were talking about,
she said,
"I was rumbling through all I — my alternate, had been through
the other day. There was something that caused me to hold on to —"
She waited for Jack to ask what that was.
After he did, she answered,
"After I slept near the Stargate on Dagobah, that morning I touched
it. I force myself to remember my time at the SGC."
She gave an honest smile towards him and continued,
"I saw more magnificent things than all the bad."
