The doctor and Mason stand anxiously: the aura of the room is unmistakable: a lust for adventure. The doctor pipes up 'Where now Mason? Past, present, or future? The possibilities are endless, we could go back in time to meet Dorian Gray, or even into the future to the Braxiatel collection, the universe is at your fingertips!'
'I do not know' said Mason 'My only desire is to go somewhere I will be accepted, preferably with no Slitheen too'
'I know just the place!' the doctor exclaimed, excitedly 'Kendax 12: a fascinating planet, and a breathtakingly gorgeous one too. It's lilac sun towers over the four sections of the planet: a jungle area, a rainforest area, a desert area, and a city, all connected by wormholes powered by retrogenita particles. You'll love it, lets go!'

The doctor whirled around the console, flipping switches and pressing buttons with the enthusiasm of a child. The TARDIS made it's familiar groaning noise, alerting the doctor to their growing closeness to their destination. Eventually, they hear the familiar ding. They have arrived.

'Now, Mason' said the doctor 'Would you like to-'
The doctor is interrupted by the deafening sound of the harrowing warning system of the TARDIS-the cloister bells.
'Dong...Dong..'
This goes on for several seconds, the doctor frozen with fear, stuck to the spot.
'What is that?' enquired Mason
'Cloister bells: the TARDIS' warning systems, if they're on, something is wrong. Seriously wrong. We need to find out what, as soon as possible!'

The doctor rushes to the TARDIS door, as if she were a cruising missile. She fumbles with the handle, as if the fear invoked by the bells had infected her with the sickening pain of hesitation. The doors are swung open, and the doctor dashes out, almost tripping on a rock. The TARDIS is perched on a mountain, overlooking the habitable area of Kendax 12, however the doctor scowls at the sight.
'Desert. All of Kendax 12 is desert'
Mason moves out of the TARDIS behind her, and softly approaches the doctor's side.
'Is there not a desert area of the planet?' asked Mason
'Oh yes, Mason, but this isn't it. This mountain, Scofield Peak, overlooks every habitable area on the colony, and as you can see: it's all sand. No jungle, no city. Something has happened here.'

The doctor marches back into the TARDIS, with Mason following closely behind.
'I need to find out what's happened, and it's best to do that during the daytime, wouldn't you say, Mason?'
'Yes?' said Mason, slightly overwhelmed by the flood of information presented to him.
'Good. Now, Kendax 12 has a day length of 37 hours, and if it's nightime, then our best bet is to move forward 18 hours and there's a high chance it will be day'
Once again, the doctor busily flicked switches and fondled the TARDIS controls, resulting in the curious wheezing noise and the conclusive ding.

Rushing out of the TARDIS, the doctor's face drops as she sees the inky black sky still present.
'It's still dark? How? We must try again' said the doctor, rather frustrated.
The process was repeated 3 more times, each culminating in the same result: darkness.
'This is impossible, quite impossible, Mason!' shouted the doctor, not aware that Mason was still sitting in the TARDIS, as he had been since the first attempt. 'We must go down to where the city used to be, I can see some building remains, and I need answers'

The TARDIS dematerialises, and reappears below, inbetween two ruined buildings, completely covered in a layer of sand two inches thick. The doctor and Mason both step out the doors, checking their surroundings for any indication of hostility.
'I must take a sample of this sand, it could hold the key to all this Mason'
Just as the doctor finishes her sentence, a bright, burning beam of green light narrowly misses the doctor, causing her to stumble backwards. The duo look towards the direction of the beam, and recoil in shock when they see the creatures that fired the beam. Several tall, gruesome creatures approach them, coming in the direction of the TARDIS.
'Run!' shouts the doctor
Mason obeys, and the two of them flee away from the direction of the TARDIS, and eventually find refuge behind a brick wall. Mason looks through a hole in the wall, and notices the creatures are wandering around aimlessly.
'They appear to have lost us doctor' said Mason
'Thank God for that, I was getting déjà vu from that time I visited a Drashig theme park, do you like Drashigs?'
'I know you are trying to distract me doctor, it is not needed but I thank you for your kindness'
While crouched behind the wall, Mason spots something out of the corner of his eye: a skull. A single skull, sitting there in solitude and peace, staring right at him.
'Doctor. There appears to be the skeletal head of a creature over there' said Mason, surprisingly calmly
'A Kendaxian. Nasty way to go, given that it's just the head that implies some form of decapitation. From this I think we can make assumptions, the population is dead along with their world. I will stop this, and I will stop these creatures, as stopping monsters is what I'
Without warning, the creatures that previously attacked the travellers teleported away, leaving no trace of their destructive attitude. The duo make their way back to the TARDIS quietly, still cautious of their nearby surroundings. A few feet away from the TARDIS, the doctor relaxes; just as she is about to tell Mason the area seems clear, three soldiers teleport in front of her, grab her and Mason, then activate the teleports again: all in the blink of an eye.
