JULIA

“Julia!”

“What?!”

Oh. It’s just my best friend, Alicia. She’s Rodrick’s  childhood friend and she’s our classmate who is also the captain of our Volleyball Varsity Team, which will have a new uniform next week thanks to the student council which I also forgot to mention that she’s a part of. Gets?

“Come with me to the rooftop”

(Rooftop)

“I heard that Rod gave you a ring. Are you two getting married? Or maybe, you’re just engaged because –

“Alicia! Chill okay. We’re not getting married. And it’s not an engagement ring. It’s just a promise ring.”

“Corny.”

“I know!”

“So what’s the big promise?”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.”

“Why?”

“You know why.”

“Getting guilty?”

“Yes.”

“So what’s the promise already?”

“He promised that he’ll be mine forever –

Wait a minute. OH GOD

“ – you tricked me! I can’t believe you did it.”

“I’m awesome, I know.”

“Whatever.” I just rolled my eyes at her. She’s good. Maybe I should try that trick sometimes.

Then, her face changed. And I know what that face means. She’s gonna transform into my mom

“Seriously Julia, if you don’t like the guy, just tell it to him already before everything gets complicated. Why did you let him be your boyfriend in the first place?”

Why did I do it anyway? The last thing I remembered, is that he was badly bleeding cause he was punched by a group of guys for protecting, or should I say, interrupting our little brawl. I can handle it really. What’s the use of my black belt in Karate? But I was startled by what he’s doing. He would risk his life for me.

“I don’t know” was all I could say.

(DUN DUN DUN DUN) <<< School bell

It’s already time. I wonder where Julia is. I haven’t seen her today yet. Well, will see each other inside the classroom.

Bingo!

“Julia”

“Oh. Hello Rod”

There goes the expressionless face again. Her face and my mom’s looks exactly the same when she has a problem. So if she’s trying to conceal her problem by showing that face…think again.

She directly went to her seat and sat there without saying a word. I went to her and sat beside her.

“You can’t keep it to yourself forever. Come on. Tell it to me.”

She looked at me. Then buried her face in the desk.

“Julia, I won’t give up. I’ll help you with it.”

“How? You don’t even know what my problem is?” Her face still buried in her desk.

“I’ll find a way.” Then I kissed her head and went to my seat.

Julia

Finally! I’m now in my bed. Today was so exhausting from so much school work to Rod’s nonstop interrogation. I’d tell him everything, if it’s that easy to tell the truth. But it’s not, so I have to endure every annoying question he’ll ask from now on. Is this KARMA?

(Phone beeps)

Speaking of the devil.

“Hello?”

“Julia”

“What?!”

“Are you angry? Sorry. I know I’m quite annoying today, but don’t worry I won’t do it again. I realized that if you really wanted to share it with me, you already did. So now, I’ll just patiently wait for that day that you could finally trust me for what you really feel.”

“Okay.”

“Julia”

“What?”

“I love you.”

I hung up the phone. Maybe I can learn to like him. After all, he’s not that hard to like. Isn’t he?
