First day of school

I couldn't sleep, so getting up at 7 and getting myself dressed was no problem at all. Normally I have to practically set a billion alarms for each minute in order to get myself up.
But, first day jitters, I got them every year and I knew I'd especially get them this year.

Instead of the big "first day of school" outfit that makes everyone drool over you, I just got comfy. No, I didn't want a ton of attention, I wasn't even sure if I wanted friends this year. I already had friends, why would I need anymore when I already have the best ones?

So, instead of a super body rocking dress or skirt, I went with Nike leggings and a cropped dry-fit t-shirt. Casual, but enough to be even a little cute. Which is what everyone wanted right?
Sadly I didn't have long hair. My long dirty blonde hair was cut shoulder length right before my trip to Spain. So, instead of the classic stories you hear of a beautiful girl and her hair falling down to her waist "in the most perfect way" is pretty much non existent with me.

"Hun, you ready?" I could tell that was my moms voice, my aunt must have let her in already. I quickly responded with a quit shout from my room and grabbed my backpack, heading out the door.

"Okay. So you will have these classes this semester, and these ones next semester. So you'll only have one semester of each class."
I couldn't even begin to explain how confusing this all was to me. It sucked.
I went from having my regular block schedule, A and B days, to having the same four classes one semester, and all new three classes next. And as lost as I seemed today, I knew it would only get worse.

This high school was pretty much like any high school in any movie. Which, apparently, this high school was actually in a movie.
The famous Stratford high school. Home of the knights. Red was practically plastered everywhere, and I couldn't even explain how big the school was. And don't even get me started on the fact that this school had actual lockers.
"You just wait right there, I will get you someone to help show you around." The nice lady in the office smiled at me as she picked up her phone and smacked on the keys with the end of her pen.
"Hey Betty, could you send up Savy? Thank you very much darling, have a good day."
She hung up the phone almost as fast as she had picked it up and motioned for me to sit in one of the seats next to her desk.
"Just wait right here, Savy will be here soon."

Savy? That's a pretty name.
Maybe she's a student? I hope that she isn't part of the school staff, I really don't want to be escorted as if they are protecting me. I can't stand that feeling that people are watching me, and everyone always watches the kid that's being walked by the school staff. Especially if that kid is new.

"Hello?"
A pair of legs in front of me knocked me out of my thoughts as I looked up. She was really pretty, and she had to be a student. Platinum blonde hair that seemed thin, but perfect to style. It wasn't long either, but it was longer than mine. And she had these really pretty blue eyes that would just jump out at you.
"Hi, I'm Savy, but everyone calls me Sav."

I stood up quickly and reached my hand out,
"I'm Maria, but everyone calls me Mia."
We both chuckled quietly and then went on our way.
There were tons of students passing by us, and Sav would say hi to almost all of them. It surprised me how many people she knew. Even the freshmen.
"You know a lot of people don't you?" I asked

She nodded her head then turned it to me.
"Yeah, I mean, most of the people here I was raised with. Not a lot of people move away, and it's very tight knit, so everyone kinda knows everyone already."

That I fully believed.
"Hey Sav!"
I wasn't sure why I turned around when it was Savy's name being called, but when I did I practically froze.
There, walking towards us, was a group
Of guys.
And no, this isn't one of those cheesy romance books where every single guy at the school is good looking. There was one guy who engulfed Sav into a hug then kissed her, so I'm assuming that means they are dating.
But, he wasn't who I was looking at, it was the guy standing next to him.

He was taller, not super muscular but also not incredibly scrony. And as strange as it sounded, to me he looked like he should be brothers with Lee Flynn from the Kissing Booth on Netflix.
Just think Lee, but better.
That is who was standing in front of me.
I want to say that I looked up and down at him at the same time he did me.

"Guys, this is Mia, she's new. Just came from Cali." She beamed at the group standing in front of her as if it's the most exciting news she's ever had the pleaser of sharing.
"Okay, Mia, this is Cade, my boyfriend." She motioned to the man with his arm around her. He shot me a slight wave with a welcoming smile.
"That is Jayden." She pointed to a kid who had really curly hair, now he was a little skinny.

"This right here is Kevin."
Kevin looked fun. He seemed like the kind of guy that could make me laugh no matter what.

"And that is Kaden."
Kaden, that's his name.
All the sudden I didn't know how to act.
Was my arm in an awkward position?
Did my outfit look weird?
Did my leggings look weird?

"Hey." He said, knocking me out of my thoughts.
He didn't say it like he knew he was good looking. He also didn't say it like an asshole.
That one "Hey" was stuck in my head, because his tone was unidentifiable.

"Hi..." I waved.
Oh god, by far the most awkward wave I've ever done.
What the heck was wrong with me?
My arm felt like a robot with a dead arm.
That doesn't even make sense.

"Alright, well I have to get Mia here back to her tour, so I'll see you guys later."
I could tell she kissed her boyfriend goodbye, but I kept my head glued to the floor. I didn't want to look at anyone, and I most certainly did not want to look at Kaden.

I could feel their stares on us as we walked away, but Sav couldn't help but giggle.
"Okay, if that is the reaction everyone will have, then we gotta make you a little more public."

I felt comfortable around Sav, which was kinda hard for me to do. I never felt comfortable around anyone unless they were my best friends, or family.
Wait.
What kind of reaction?

She quickly took out her phone and snapped a selfie of us on Snapchat.
"This should get them going." She smiled at me.
I was confused at what she meant, but when I looked at her story.
The picture was our selfie together, but her caption was

'Check out the new girl from Cali!'

68 people added me on Snapchat after that, in less than a day.
