SORRY, It's worth it, I SWEAR!

"We need to hurry!" I told Dominic. "Xavier should be on stage any minute!"

"Oh, in the back," Dominic gestured to his back seat. "He dropped that off for you, per Kitara?"

I reached back, and pulled a bag from the front seat. "What's--" I pulled the jacket.

"I don't know how your girl found someone to make that happen, but I gotta give her props." He said, concentrating on the road. "That is a Kevlar jacket-bullet proof. According to Lis, she had a few of these made for her son, and he gave one to you. Fits nice, huh?"

I slipped it on and zipped up. "Uh, yeah."

"You don't know what symbol that is, do you?"

"Nope."

Dominic shook his head and laughed, "You need to catch up on your comic books, dude. You need some more Americanization."

I scoffed at that. "We're not far. What about you?"

"What about what?"

"Protection?"

"You are looking at one hell of a Kevlar suit," he smiled broadly. "this would make James Bond jealous." He saw me give him a look, and he laughed again.

We finally got to the club, and it was crowded. Xavier once said he could fill a house, and this was one of those times I wished the kid was lying. The place was packed. I put on sunglasses, and we parked on the street.

We were permitted in without being stopped. That was a bit upsetting, but then I saw that the bouncers had pictures of us on their phones. Xavier had paved the way. They gave a respectful nod, and one of them texted whom I assume was Xavier to let him know we were here.

Suddenly my phone chimed. Xavier texted me.

XMAN: What's up?

SSWW: Attempt made and thwarted. Think you're next.

Suddenly, Xavier walked out on stage, and the crowd went wild.

Dominic's eyebrows lifted. "Wow, he's got a whole suit." He looked around. "Get to the front, I'll cover from here."

I moved around to the side and up by the front. Security helped me along. As he got the crowd jumping and wild for the show, I watched him. He was definitely enigmatic. He did a three minute song of his own, and then started telling them the live performances that would take place before going back to the DJ and dance music.

Xavier smiled at me when he saw me offstage. He nodded, and stepped back so I could see one of his guys on the other side. He danced again, and pointed on opposite corners in the back of the house. His guys were in the corners watching everything, and I could see Dominic covering back center, canvassing everything. I looked out, and watched everyone dancing or at least bobbing their heads or getting drinks, save one.
