I mentioned in an announcement about doing reviews of books I love on Wattpad, instead of reviews, I decided to interview the authors here. So let me introduce A. L. Sestier.
Her book His Dark Words just won Third Place in the Chaos Awards, Teen Fiction Category. As of today, August 28, 2019, it's ranked #37 in journal out of 24.7 K stories and #479 in #sadness out of 96.4 K stories and #261 in #mentalhealth out of 20.1 K stories. Wow!
Here's the book summary: When Harlow takes the wrong bag at school, she discovers a journal written by a mysterious, tortured boy inside. She becomes obsessed with discovering who it belongs to and how she can find him before it's too late.
On to the interview:
1. Which adjective describes you best? & Why?
I think I'd have to choose "wild" as I've always had this out-there imagination that I used as a kid to escape into and now it's all spilling out of my head onto paper. My brain is kind of on back to front and I have the oddest ideas that I turn into stories. His Dark Words is the most "normal" book I've ever written. Most of my stuff is more... Well, wild. :D
2. What music do you listen to?
My taste is pretty eclectic, it really depends on my mood. Right now my favourite tracks are Sunday by Foals, Life on Earth by Snowpatrol & Sink In by Charlie Cunningham.
3. What types of books do you like to read?
I love books that sort of turn my head inside out. I love the unexpected that makes me throw out everything I thought about the book by the last page. I really like Teen Fiction but only if it's about more than just high-school love. I also love new and exciting fantasy worlds; books about magic but where the magic feels new and something that I haven't seen/read before.
4. What is your favorite quote or scene in your Wattpad book? (Or in your favorite Wattpad book?) & Why?
I loved ending my book with "And", no full stop, no "the end" I just love the idea that those characters get to carry on existing in all the messy, heart-aching brilliance that is life.
5. What do you like best about Wattpad?
I love talking to people that love to read and write. The people on here are really awesome and getting to know some of them has been the best experience ever!
