I'm drowning in sounds and colors. Only this time I'm not afraid. The colors are waving at me. Somewhere far away I can hear the ocean, then a car honking, a dog barking, children laughing and a king hitting wood.

It is a king. He's on a big white balloon. A knight from a chess game. A little brown haired girl comes running towards me. She grabs the balloon and then she's gone. The light fades away.

Another light appears, calling me in. In the light an older version of the brown haired girl is sitting legs crossed playing a game of chess with herself. I watch her as she moves the pieces. She moves the queen and disappears.

This time the new light shines bright blue. A 10 year old girl is sitting down eating an ice cream. Suddenly she stands up and walks towards a big chessboard. She reaches out her hand and the ice cream disappears. She moves a big chess horse across the big chessboard and smiles satisfied at her move.

It's only black for a second until a new light appears. It wasn't as bright as the others, more of a slight yellow shimmer. In the light there's a big white room. In the room there is a raven haired girl lying on a hospital bed next to a heart monitor. Her skin had a sickly white color. Black and white. Looking closer I realize that it's chess girl. She isn't much older, maybe 13 or 14 by now. Who is she? And why does she keep appearing? She's always there, playing chess. But somehow, she calms me down, makes me feel like I'm not alone. Just like playing chess does. The light faded and I was back standing in the dark waiting for a new one.
