The phone rang in the middle of the night and I normally got out of my chair to go get it. I couldn't sleep again tonight so I instead started doing homework that was due next week at I didn't even know that I was taking my time to do my homework until I looked at the time the phone rang. I took my time as I walked towards the phone, then it stopped rining; the answering phone could get it then so I started walking back up the stairs.
'Charlotte? We have a suspect, you can come dow-'
'Hello?!' I asked frantically and breathing hard since I rushed down the stairs (almost slipping) to answer the phone. 'It's Charlotte Williamsburg.'
'Sorry to ring you this late but I just called in to say that we have a suspect and you don't have to come in tonight, he will still be here by tomorrow.' Camilla's voice poured in through the phone and I found myself to be breathign really hardly not knowing what to do. This suspect could be my dad's murderer, he could know something that could change my life and he could reveal who the murderer is. 'Are you there, Charlotte?' I snapped out it and responded.
'Yeah, I-I'm here. I'll come by now, I was awake anyway.' I said with a slight shaky laugh at the end. 'Okay, we'll see you in a little bit. Drive safe, it's pouring outside.' I hanged up and put the phone down then clutched the side of the table as I breathed hard not believeing the conversation I just had.
'You okay?' I jumped when I saw Hunter standing in nothing but jeans, I wasn't paying attention to anything apart from his eyes that seemed to catch my eye through this small light that hung on the ceiling. 'They found a suspect, I need to go down to the station.' I said to him as I grabbed my coat and my shoes and proceeded to wear them while Hunter just watched me.
'Give me a minute, I'll drop you there.' I nodded as he ran up the stairs. It hadn't even been a second when I started to pace around anxiously, waiting for Hunter to come downstairs. Ever since the day I cried on his shoulder, I wanted to avoid him but I couldn't do tat because he was there for me when I needed him, when I needed a shoulder to cry on. He could have chosen to left but he didn't, he stayed with me and took me home and made sure I was okay before I went to sleep.
'You ready? I jumped at the sound of Hunter;s voice and he seemed to notice so he gave me a sheepish smile. Hunter wore a white shirt with a leather jacket on top making him looking more bolder, he also wore dark jeans which added to the bad boy look but the messy hair just made him look like a player which he was.
'Yeah, come on.' I answered after checking him out a little.
It took us half the normal time to get to the station as it was at least 1am meaning that there was barely any traffic than there usually was, but I'm guessing since it was night that there would be a lot of peopple coming into the station, people that were arrested. I didn't care though, I just wanted to know who this person was and know if he killed my dad or not.
Me and Hunter got out of the car and I ran into the station as Hunter locked the car and followed me into the station. Belle was already there going through a file with an officer when she looked up and noticed me, then tensed when she saw Hunter behind me. Crap! I forgot that they were not getting along at the moment; stupid me just had to bring him along knowing that his mom was going to be here!
'I'm going to wait out here, anything goes wrong shout for me okay Char?' His eyes locked on mine and I so badly felt like getting lost in them, but now wasn't the time. I nodded at him and he winked at me making me blush fifty shades of red before walking to sit down on one of the chairs; I followed Belle into the office once again and a rush of nausea hit me.
'Charlotte, I'm going to show you a picture of him and you are going to tell me if you know him or not so that you don't freak out a lot when we go into the interrogation room, okay?' I nodded and she gave me a reassuring smile which seemed to lift a little nerve off me. We walked to what seemed like her desk which was neat for the chief but then again, she was the chief so I wouldn't be surprised if she got her work done. 'This is Matthew Hughes, late thirties.'
I took a closer look at the picture and noticed his grim expression he gave the camera. His under eyes had dark circles under them while his eyes looked dead but they gave nothing away apart from danger, he was someone you didn't want to mess with. His clothes didn't say the same as his facial features did; he wore a hoodie underneath a black jacket and it didn't look as if it fit him. He had a tattoo on his cheek which I couldn't see what it was properly but that just added to the danger as did his curly small black hair that rest upon his head.
'I don't know him.' I said looking up at Belle who only nodded and put the picture down then asked me to sit down on the chair that was in front of hers which I complied to.
'Now, I'm going to take you into the interrogation room behind the mirror and I will be with Mr Hughes asking him any questions. There will be an officer with you and if there is anything you need to say, you can tell the officer who will pass on the message to me. If in any way you want to come out of the room, you can do so but notify the officer okay?'
'Yeah.'She gave me another smile before getting up with me doing the same. A femaleofficer joined us and she was in a suit like Belle was but she had a blazer on;the officer smiled at me before Belle introduced me to Officer Rosa andfinally, we had to go in. I took a deep breathe before heading in, oh God...
