Luke

There she was, not moving a finger. Ella.

Laying silently in a field of daisies, her favourite flower of all. Ella.

I couldn't believe my eyes, she was actually here. The girl I lost over eighty - earth - years ago. Beautiful, Ella. With her long blonde hair, that was cut to just above her shoulders now. Her clothing style... It was, different. She was wearing a dress, blue. It looked beautiful on her, along with a jacket of a material I did not recognize. It was black and shiny, the same as her boots. That's when I saw it, the dark-ish red colour dried up on it the side of her face. Blood. Red blood. She's human.

''Ella.'' I murmured, running towards the girl. I knelt down besides her, examining the wound on her head. I wasn't a doctor, far from it actually. Because of this I couldn't say with certainty how bad the wound was, but it was bad enough I felt like she needed the hospital. I stretched out my arm, my fingers slightly touching her tanned skin. She didn't move. I carefully pushed my finger underneath her nose. Holding my breath, my heart pounding out of my chest. Until I felt a soft breeze flow over my finger. She's alive.

What do I do? I can't leave the woods, I can't be seen. I need to. I need to bring her to the hospital.

I can't.

I slipped my hand underneath her back. She was cold, too cold. I lifted her, pulling her close to my body. I started walking, never taking my eyes of the girl in my arms. I've wanted to be able to hold her for a decade, but I never imagined this would be the way it would happen. The only reason I took my eyes off' of her was to make sure I wouldn't bump into a tree. It was nighttime, and even though I had pretty well sight, I didn't want to risk falling down now that I had such an important person in my arms. Once I was on the right path - Which was luckily easy to be found; with all the time I've spend in these lonely woods I've learned my way around quite well. - I looked down at Ella again. Gorgeous Ella. What was she doing in the middle of the woods? In my field. Was it a sign of some sorts, like it was all meant to be?

Noise.

People.

I scurried away, hiding my body behind an old tree. It were a group of teenagers, on their way to the outer world. They had to take Ella, to the hospital. They could get there, I couldn't. I didn't know how, all I know was these woods. I would never get there in time. And if I got there, I couldn't get seen. It would be too unsafe. Therefore, I stepped out onto the path and delicately put her down on the ground. I disliked the choice I had made, of leaving her behind. But I didn't have another choice. So I leaned down, softly kissing her forehead. ''Until soon, Ella.''

October 31th, 1923.

Halloween.

Quite in interesting holiday, if I may say so myself. I'm not very sure what it is actually celebrating. But I got taught that earthlings use this beautiful day to make fun of everything 'abnormal'.

Like, let's say; vampires, -Which don't exist as far as we know.- Frankenstein, - Who I would love to be real. - anything zombie and the undead related, and - the most ironic one of all - Aliens. Now, it wouldn't have been a big deal if they would portray is as we really are. No, our problems is that we are seen as big headed, - Literally. - big and black eyed, - And worst of all. - green creatures.

I myself can see the humour in this, because clearly the humans know nothing off our existence. I am one of the few, though. I've always been taught to strongly dislike this holiday, but something about it intrigued me nevertheless. Maybe it was the way Ella snuck out of her home wearing a mask and clothing she would never dare to touch on any other day. Or how she seemed so herself, but also anything besides that. She appeared to enjoy herself more than any day on October 31th. Maybe because on this day she didn't have to be herself, didn't have to face up to her responsibilities for once.

But this night was different. It was midnight, her usual time of disappearance. But her way out stayed untouched. And even an hour later there was still no sign of the brave young lady I adored so much. Thus I made my way outside my own home, quietly so no one would be disturbed. I wasn't planning on getting myself into trouble by bothering Ella's home, but I needed to know if she was okay. From what I knew of her she wouldn't skip a night of freedom. Something had to be wrong.

While trying my best not to step on any rocks or branches once I came close to Ella's home, I did exactly that. I didn't think anyone heard, or saw me. I was wrong.

''Who are you, and why are you on my land?'' A male voice spoke, making me turn around. It was Ella's fiancé. His stance was proud, dangerous. While not saying a word, - Mainly because I had no idea what to say. - Ella tiptoed outside. But not towards us, like I expected.

She was dolled up, in her Halloween attire. And while her fiancé was so busy with me, she had the chance to run into the woods. But not before she turned around one more time, to give me a thankful smile. I didn't return her smile, because I didn't want to make her fiancé suspicious. But oh, if she only knew how much that smile meant to me.
