( Ella )

I woke up. Where? Where was I? When I opened my eyes, my mum was stood above me. Her sad smile and pat on my hand made me frown. ''Mom?'' I asked, hoping I'd get some more of an explanation.

''It's okay, honey. You're in the hospital, but you're okay.''

''What happened?'' I asked, softly pinching my mother's hand.

''You were hit in the head, you fainted. Some kids found you on the path in the woods and brought you here. I'm so glad you had your ID on you.''

I closed my eyes, trying to return the memory. I remembered being left behind by Jake in the woods, and trying to find my way back. But I failed and lost the path. I wasn't on a path when I fainted, I was in the woods.

''I wasn't on a path.''

''What?''

''Jake left me alone in the woods and-''

''He left you? What? Ruby..''

''Mom. I wasn't on a path. I on a field when I fainted. I remember.''

''Why would those kids lie?'' She asked, shaking her head. She didn't believe me, that's so her. I know what I saw, though.

''I don't know.'' I decided just to play it off. There was no convincing my mother anyway.

''Ella? Ella?!''

I was in the woods again, all alone. My vision was blurry, black spots were entering my vision. I could still see, just not very well. I pressed my eyes shut, and opened them again, hoping it would make the black spots go away, but they only got worse. My ears were buzzing, sounds no matter how loud, fading to the background. Like I was underwater, close, but far away.

''Ella! Ella??''

I looked around, frantically. I didn't reconize the voice. It was desparate, tortured.

I was in the woods again, standing in the same field of daisies. I couldn't remember how I got here, I wasn't planning on going back here. The dizzyness started getting worse, so I sat down. And sitting quickly became laying. My body was spread, daisies all around me. I stared up into the sky, taking deep breaths. I could feel the cold of the dirt beneath me, but it did me good.

''Ella''

I turned my head to the side, facing the whisper. A daisy blew in the wind right besides my face. It was white, lots of peddles. Something was different about it, though. Half of the peddles, were covered in red. I moved my head, to see if there were any other flowers touched by the yet unidentified substance. They all were.

I lifted my arm, touched my head. My fingers were covered in blood.

''Help! Ella?''

Now I reconigzed the voice. ''Mom?'' I said, softly. I sat up, at least I thought I did. But my body was nailed to the ground. My head started spinning again, my heartbeat rising. I tried to say something else, but was unable too. My vision slowed, everything slowed. My head started hurting, the wind starting hurling even stronger. The daisies danced uneasily in the wind, like even they were uncomfortable with the situation.

''ELLA''

I woke up, my forehead covered in sweat. My hands shaking, which could only be seen when I held them in the air.

I was alone in the room, which made it quiet enough to let the sounds of my hyperventilation fill the room.

It was just a dream.

I told myself, over and over.

But was it?
