You don't quite know what happened, you were hanging out with a group of people you had met not long ago when there was an odd flash of light, when it went away nothing seemed different and for a bit you didn't think anything happened. Until you tried to use your powers, they didn't work.. Or at least your powers didn't work.
find some way to randomly switch everyone's powers around, see what happens. Perhaps yo were on your way to try to take down a dark being, or perhaps you were just out with your friends. It doesn't have to be just magical abilities either, maybe you've swapped combat abilities as well.
