I said to myself in my head as I continued to tap my toes in the rhythm of fours, afraid that if I was to mess up something terrible will occur.
"Now answer me this, why are you here" he asked once more, his gaze lost in the distance. He eyes gave no emotion, as did he.
What ails him, I knew not...
"I... I wanted to enjoy the moonlight tonight" I lied as I swallowed, an uncomfortable lump began to form inside my throat as I continued to gaze at him.
"Nice night to be out, I guess..."
I widened my eyes in surprise hearing him chuckle. It was rare for him to do so, especially on nights when he worked.
"Yes... It really is" I chuckled, masking my fear of an impending doom.
"What would you say if I loved you?"
