The sun had just begun to set over the horizon. The sky was lit up with a beautiful orange to red to purple light. The colors flowed smoothly together.
The sky suddenly filled with loud cheers and screams of joy. The streets were filled with the village people walking and little children running. On the sides of the streets were ten different booths set up.
Roma was helping her grandmother at her house when they heard the commotion outside. The house was on a hill that overlooked the village. They looked out the front door to see a festival. There was a large banner strung over the road between two houses that read "Happy Birthday Roma!"
They had both been so busy working they had forgotten about there own birthday celebration. They looked at one another with a grin of excitement. Roma headed to the village square with her grandmother.
When they got to the village square the Bakers, who were the village bakers, began to light the candles on the enormous cake that they had baked for Them. There were ninety-six candles on the cake for them to blow out. Grandmother turned to her and said "This year you may need to blow most of mine out for me."
Roma smiled even bigger than ever before and said "I sure will grandma, I mean I need practice for when I am as lucky as you."
Roma's grandmother only laughed at Roma's comment.
After everyone of the candles were lit they began sing the "Happy Birthday" song to them. They finished singing and Roma heard a new addition this year, drum rolls. Roma's face just lit up with excitement. Her and her grandmother took a deep breath and blew as much of the candles out as they could. They missed almost a quarter of them.
Roma'a grandmother smiled and jokingly said "better luck for us next year right!"
Roma grinned and replied, jokingly as well, "For you I got at least my sixteen this year!"
They both laughed.
After the candles were blown out they opened up the buffet table. They wouldn't let anyone get food before Roma and her grandmother, because it was their birthday that was being celebrated. There were over one hundred different types of food that was provided.
After dinner there were men, women, and children getting in a podium, that was placed in the center of the village square, to sing and dance.
Ammon walked up to Roma when she was alone and asked, "How would you like to learn how to properly handle a sword tomorrow, then after that I can teach you how to fight with one?"
Roma excitedly replied, "I would love to! It sounds like a lot of fun!"
