Caro was asleep. The two pushed the door open before laying on their beds and passing out instantly. "We can't keep doing this," Pilo mumbled.
"I know," Sammy replied.
The two fell asleep afterward.
The moment they slide into their chair they're served an enormous platter of food. Eggs, ham, piles of fried potatoes. A tureen of fruit sits in ice to keep it chilled. The basket of rolls they set before them would keep my family going for a year. There's an elegant glass of orange juice. The knights ate while Caro sat in front of them.
Caro:
Role around the Garden:
The King, leader of the snails, when he's not being a mother to the knights he's making festivals and making sure his people are fed.
Caro smiled at the two. "So, you woke up the garden last night, everyone thought Defiant was finally fully out," He said eating happily. "What did you use him for?"
"A vampire," Sammy said. "That's what we were supposed to talk about last night." Sammy ate. "We fucked up bad," She said. "We're gonna have to leave the garden so vampires don't keep coming here," She said.
Caro looked at the two before nodding. "It's a scary world out there you both know," He said. "You both are free to come back at any time," He said before walking to them and hugging them tightly.
Pilo frowned for a moment before slowly hugging back. Sammy held the two tight. Caro broke the hug first. "Vampires are highly resilient," He said. "You're going to need to be much more than knights you know," He said as the two stared.
"You fought Vampires?" Pilo asked.
"I've fought a god," Caro smirked handing them new weapons. Pilo a blue plastic sword while Sammy got another needle and thread. "You two will need to first stay alive and secondly be strong, both of you are fairly strong, Dallin did a number on you," He said. "Before you died and you haven't gotten a chance to fight, have you?" He asked. "Just....promise me something," He said after a moment. "Be safe you two," he said. "I'll always be here to help you,"
The two nodded and left the garden. Watching them he was silent, A single tear slid down from his warm, amber eyes, followed by another one, and another one, until soon, a steady stream of salty tears flowed it's way down his pale cheek, releasing the sadness and sorrow that has been held inside of him for all this time but still he did not make a sound. He smiled. "They'll be okay," he said to himself before shutting the door.
"Barrel Monastery?" Pilo asked. "The hell is that," He mumbled as they ventured into the forest. Pilo was staring at a map. "I can't fucking read this,' He said as Sammy breathed in and smiled. "What's with you?"
"I'm finally on a true adventure!" She grinned. "Come on, Pilo!"
She was wandering the forest of her dreams, only hearing her feet tread, hearing the cracking twigs and leaves underfoot. A smell of timidness hovers in the air... no clue of what is ahead! Clutching her fists tightly, she keeps moving forward. Voices are coming nearer... whisperings! As she comes closer, she finds a family of oak trees chatting together.......she is amused! As she walks along everything goes silent... Suddenly there is a voice from the ground... it is an old acorn laying down with its crumpled body and lichen decorating its skin. It murmurs, "Hello, dear!!" and gives a smile. Though there are lots of lively acorns hung on the trees, the one with the scars of wisdom shows courteousness.....welcoming her. She feels a bit relieved and smiles back, yet is soon confused! Lots of questions cross her mind... she has embarked on this adventure with no destination, only curiosity of what is beneath!
Walking some distance she came to the top of a hill where she was standing she saw a brook stretching along with the sight with beautiful shinning waters, it had induced her to come down and she went down following the waters. Enjoying the scenery along sides the brook where the flowers were dancing, the bees singing lovely songs, sucking the nectar and sprinkling the pollens all around the trouts were racing with her splashing water up high.
Pilo saw the bees and grimaced. "I should be at the hive," He mumbled before reaching the top of the hill with her. Sammy was grinning staring out at the forest. "Spot anything?" He asked the snail.
"There," She pointed. "Just north of here is the broken Barrel," She grinned. "We're really close!" She said before looking up, seeing dragons fall from the sky, a bug bounced off the trees and hit the ground.
The two watched the bug for a moment, he was wearing a mask, cracked on the left side as a dragon landed on him, he threw the blade he was using, a rusted nail up, the noise of the blade colliding echoed off every tree as he pulled the blade out and flapped his wings. White, dusty, a moth was in daylight, he fluttered up and towards the broken barrel. The two stared at the scene before Sammy gulped. "Holy shit," Pilo said.
The two continue walking before getting to a lake. The lake had been hardened by the sharp cold unforgivingness of an icy frost, the translucent water bound as a smooth solid. The wildlife was bold yet cautious of figuring out their new visitor, daring to get closer to have a look at the foreign creature disturbing their peace. As the day went on the forest came to life. The trees dance in the wind, the sound of running water in the stream had the same hypnotic quality as music luring animals in to have a drink, to taste the warm sweet sensation of freshwater. The drone of insects humming and buzzing filled the air, little gods croaked while searching for food hoping to catch an easy snack.
Standing atop the frost was the moth fixing a blade and growling to himself.
