~ In which Patricia sees the Frogman
Patch woke up that morning feeling strangely awake. This confused her, since she usually was extremely groggy and grumpy when she woke up - like yesterday on the train. She blinked a couple times and then looked down to stare at her watch. But then she got even more confused.
13:02 Patch's watch said. How did that happen?
Then Patch looked around. Where was Minna?
Ah, he was directly on her right, and still sleeping. Aw, he was pouting, how cute. He was just like a kid. His long hair was sticking to face so Patch flicked it off. Underneath his eyebrows were scrunched up like he was having a bad dream.
Patch looked back at her watch. 13:03. Her watch was working but... Actually, could it possibly be in army time? But then that would mean...
"Wake up." She shook the boy next to her. "Come on Minna! Wake up!"
Minna sat up, looked at her, and rubbed his eyes. "Patch?"
"Yeah, Minna, listen; I think it's one o'clock." She motioned towards her watch. The teenager turned his head down to look. Then he looked up at her.
"How is that possible?" He groaned. "Something's wrong with your watch."
"No, it's in army time. I think. I've changed it before in my sleep! Maybe I've done it again!" Patch explained. Minna didn't say anything.
"Do you have a watch? Lemme see," Minna opened his mouth as if to say something but quickly closed it. So Patch just rolled her eyes and grabbed his left wrist. It was bare.
"Are you left handed?" She asked when she looked back at him.
"Yea-" Minna started to say, but Patch interrupted him by going for his right hand. "Wait! Patch!" The boy rolled over, bringing Patch with him.
"Stop it Minna! I just need to see your watch!" They wrestled for a while more, but Patch managed to twist the older boy onto his back with his right hand locked behind him. Looks like fighting with Landon didn't only give her a sense of accomplishment but good skills as well.
"Are you serious?! Kid, that hurts! Patch! Are you even listening?!" But Patch wasn't. She was staring at Minna's watch with big eyes. She stopped breathing for a moment. Finally she sucked in a huge breath of air.
"IT'S A FROG!" Patch screamed and exploded into a ball of pure glee and energy. But not literally. "It's an actual G-SHOCK freaking FROGMAN!!!" Minna panicked, but somehow figured out how to tackle the girl from behind and cover her mouth.
"Shut up you idiot kid! Do you want us to get jumped?!" Minna glared at her from over her shoulder. Patch's eyes got even huger and she shook her head in a wild no. Then she gently took his hand off her mouth.
"But where did you get it?" Patch turned around and whispered right in his face. "Did you steal it?"
"What? No!" Minna staggered back from her with indignation. "I paid for it! It took me two weeks of allowance!" Patch nodded readily in agreement.
"So then it's a fake?" She ignorantly clarified. Minna groaned. He felt like he was being put under even normal standards.
"No; it's not a fake. It's a genuine G-Shock." As he said this Patch's face lit up again. Before she could say anything Minna covered her mouth with both hands. "Don't freak out!"
Patch mumbled something and waved her hand dismisively. The older boy carefully uncovered her face. "I said to relax. I was just... In shock from the G-Shock." The gir chuckled happily. "I've never touched one."
