Luna was perched in her cage as she watched over her aunt Sansa, something her father had asked her to do now and then.
It was the only reason he had agreed to let her start training.
Learning to warg was easy, but Jon knew that there were consequences if not done right. Consequences he was not willing to face.
Jon reached over to hold his daughter's hand is stopped by Luna's instructor, Dim, "You need to let her learn without you trying to comfort her all the time."
Jon had met Dim nearly fifteen years before, around the time Luna was born. Back then, the old man could put himself into the minds of many animals, something he was now teaching Luna to do. Now his age had taken a toll on him, and he hadn't been up to doing much of anything.
Jon didn't always agree with Dim's methods, but Dim knew more than Jon ever would about the magic his child was doing, and he had to trust him. Even as he sits here, starring into the whites of his child's eyes. A sight that Jon wasn't sure he would ever get used too.
Jon looked at Luna for a moment, his eyes showing nothing but concern, before he looked back over to Dim, "Fine," He leaned back, wondering what all she had seen so far.
Little did he know, She hadn't seen much yet. She was starring at a distraught Sansa, standing alone by a fire. She had only seen Sansa's once before while using her bird and then there was only one word to describe the Sansa Luna had seen. Determination.
For what, Luna never found out.
"If you would have just given me what I wanted I wouldn't have had to do this," Sansa spoke giving Luna an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Her suspicion grew when she saw a single tear fall from Sansa's cheek.
Unfortunately for Luna, She hadn't managed to learn how to make her host move yet. She wanted so desperately to know who Sansa was talking too.
Luna couldn't help but notice a ball of smoke gathering out of the corner of her eye. She knew the fire was close and she worried now that Sansa was in danger.
A gasp left the small girl's physical body, causing Instructor Dim and Jon to share a confused expression. It was something Jon had never seen before.
Jon looked to Dim for answers but none were given. Dim did, however, nod his head in Jon's direction. It was a small gesture but Jon had come to learn that Dim was a man of few words when his mind was set on a certain task. It gave Jon the clarity he needed.
Dim, on the other hand, looked back to Luna, his eyes wide. He couldn't let Jon know but this was something he had only seen once before, and the outcome was one of Dim's worst memories.
Back inside the small bird, Luna tried everything she could to get the bird to move so that she could warn the aunt she had yet to meet, but nothing was helping.
Jon watched from across the room as his daughter's body began to shake violently. His heart rate sped up as he looked down at her, his eyes changing from concern to nothing but fear. He quickly stood to his feet looking down at Dim, not willing to let this one go, "Should I just let her do it on her own now?" He asked the older gentlemen, running to Luna's side. dropping to his knees, frantically repeating her name. "Luna, can you hear me?" He tried once. "Luna, I need you to wake up," He called out again.
Luna, on the other hand, was hearing none of what Jon had to say. All she could hear was the mumbled words coming from Sansa's mouth. One word, in particular, stood out, Lannister.
The Gold hair, The Gold Cloaks, Luna had heard about it all. Uncle Tormund had told all of the kids about how the King Slayer, more commonly known as Jamie Lannister, had stolen his lady. Jon had told him that "His Big Woman" was never his. It was a story that had made Luna laugh many times
