Third person point of view
She walked through the long narrow route in between the main palaces. Even though she did not wore black, the color of the deep night could shadow her well enough. Normally, she wouldn't be this sloppy. But her new status was simply too busy to allow her done things her way. A girl walking the streets of night alone, not a smart choice. Even in the so called high security palace, nobody cared about a servant, a lowlife. Alas, she was not a normal girl, and the night, was her domain.
She picked up her pace as the time passed, and she still had half the way to go before the sun went up, before anyone could notice that she was missing. She cursed her dress, if she had the time to change before her mission, she would change it in a heartbeat. The moon was high up today, the night sky was breathtakingly beautiful. But she had no time to enjoy.
A shadow bounced across behind her, and she immediately went into the state of alert. She turned and raised her hand, just enough time to block a fist coming at her. Unfortunately the man in black that was in front of her didn't give her a chance to be surprised. He immediately shot up another arm swung toward her face. She turned and escaped it. Too easy, she thought. Then she did a wide twirl with a round kick, aiming right for his stomach. He caught it, no surprise. Any man who was stupid enough to attack in the palace would bound to be an expert in martial arts. But unlike most weak girls trained to learn how to hold a embroidery needle, she was trained to an expert in martial arts since the age of nine.
She did a backward flip in an attempt to kick the man in the face but also to free her other leg. The man avoided it, but in the process, he loosened the grip on her leg just enough for her to get it out. She landed on one knee, but immediately was startled by a laughter coming a few meter before her. The man was already on his feet, but instead of attacking, all he did was crossing his arms around his chest and laughed.
"You know, you have grown slow. Did you play the role of weakling too well?" The man in black walked closer and said mockingly.
"I should have known it is you. Just you know, you would be on the ground right now if it weren't for this dress that I have to wear. " the girl hissed, also annoyed, by the man and the dress equally.
"Don't be mad at me, I am just saying hello. How is your mission by the way, did you had fun with poison?" He asked, teasingly, while pacing around her.
"All you need to know is that the mission have completed, and you can report back with that." The girl said annoyingly, she did not appreciated being treated like a child, needed to be supervised every step of the way. She had done the work as long as she could remember, and she never failed.
"Good, the Queen will be pleased. Also, her majesty wants to see you soon, so plan to sneak out when she calls for you. It should be anytime this week." The man nodded the put on a serious face.
"I understand, I will be ready. You should go now, the night is almost over, and I need to get back before the dawn break. In case you forget, I have a role to play. " the girl said clearly. She would need to figure out a way to sneak out faster next time. The queen's order was all that mattered.
Before the man turned away, he whispered loud enough just for her to hear clearly. "Just a little warning, don't get attached in your little petty role. Remember, your allegiance lies with your Queen, and your family, little sister." Then he disappeared into the thin shadow casted by the the tall walls. Left the girl alone in the quiet alleyway with only the company of the the moon light over head.
