Funny how the quotes at the beginning of the chapters seem to correlate to someone dying, huh?
"You can either die the hero,
or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
-UnknownEven though the magical tremor that had shaken Adam occured two days ago, he had no trouble tracking it to its source, leading the tired but determined armies of Team Crafted, Lord David, and Lord Robert, the only army who was close enough (or willing) to respond to their sudden call before they left. Along the way, Adam had ordered small groups of a few sorcerers to wait and direct the other armies if they came. He had very little faith that reinforcements would come, but his main priority was to keep as many sorcerers as he could out of the battle. Their numbers had significantly dwindled over the months, he didn't want to risk the lives of any more.
It was early afternoon, but the sky was dark with storm clouds. The hills rolled and curled but they were arranged like a ripple, all leading down into a final depression, ringed by a single ridge. The armies stopped just before this crest, having a quick planning meeting. They would rush in, take advantage of the element of surprise, and try to find and kill Entity as quickly as possible. They shook hands, took up their swords for what many prayed was the final time, and charged over the hill with shouts and cries, running down the hill and breaking past the thin line of trees.
Entity's black warriors milled about in the depression, weapons in their clawed hands, creating a living, moving carpet. The armies ran towards them, expecting them to scatter at their sudden appearance. But this time, the creatures went against their nature and they howled and screamed and sprinted to meet the armies in a heaving, uncoordinated mass of bodies. They smashed against the haphazardly created shield wall, clawing and tearing at the metal and wood even as their fellows behind them slashed widely with their weapons, hitting their own as often as they hit the enemy.
The might of the three armies could barely hold them back but they fought hard. Adam was fighting towards the end of the line where the creatures had reached the armies before the shield wall could be raised. He had his sword in hand, flicking in all directions like a snake's tongue, sending bursts of flame and pure energy into the enemy lines, trying to break up this mindless mass of things that swarmed with no order and no logic. Even as he fought, he looked around for a base or Entity but both were remarkably absent, worryingly so. Entity wouldn't have just created all of these creatures and then packed up and left them, so they must be protecting something, but where was it?
He got his answer a bare minute later.
His senses tingled with the sudden, huge surge of magic from the ground below him a split second before the earth erupted with a shockwave that sent all the armies sprawling and their ears ringing. Entity's black creatures had taken the worst of the hit and hundreds of them lay dead on the ground but it was obvious that he didn't need them anymore because Entity himself had shown up, his triumphant laughter echoing over the hills. He hovered high above the ground, the dark clouds a perfect backdrop as his eyes glowed too brightly with power and red energy crackled off his body and sparking against the air around him, creating a sort of haze of heat. Everyone felt shivers down their spine as they saw him but for Adam, the magical aura was like a sledgehammer to the chest. Entity's plan had worked. Adam knew with absolute certainty that whatever power Entity had now, it was stronger than Herobrine's ever was. It was stronger than Adam's.
Entity was unstoppable.
Yet while the thought filled Adam with defeat, it seemed to only fill others with determination. A hollering war cry went up and hundreds upon hundreds upon thousands of warriors charged out of the trees, swords and shields ready to kill. Banners streamed in the slowly strengthening wind, displaying dozens of different colours from the armies of Lord Vikk, Lord Ghetto, Lord Noah, General Andreas, Lord Gizzy, Lord Patrick, Lord Daniel, Lord Sparklez and even Lords Preston and Max from the tundra. The combined might of all of these armies washed down like a huge wave into the legion of black creatures, overtaking the three tired ones to smash into the creatures, their war cry constantly streaming from their mouths.
