In this chapter, I'd like to share with you all a secret recipe to a happy life. You know what my usual day sounds like? My alarm is set to go off between 5 to 6 a.m. on any given work day and each morning I wake up, make my bed and arrange all four of my favourite pillows in their place. I usually have milk and cereal for breakfast, not because I don't like meat but because it's important for me to choose what's best for me. Most mornings I'm very disciplined.
But I snoozed my alarm last week about 7 times because I could see the fog kissing my windows and the snowflakes dancing with the wind and I wanted to live in the moment. He had a sheepish smile on his face with his eyes half closed. My pillows were plopped everywhere on my messy bed. Last night we drove down a mountain and found a restaurant where I had my first cheeseburger in 18 months. We came home at midnight and I didn't even take my favourite top off and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Back in middle school, when I was fourteen, a girl at school told me I was pretty messy because I had an outgoing laugh and my hair looked like a lion's mane sometimes and I always wore my favourite pink leather boots. And it was my favourite compliment because it matched my soul.
Here's the thing: Life is pretty messy and sometimes we should clean it up but sometimes we should dance in the debris and I hope you learn the difference.🌸
