"star! star? where are youu?" marco ran around the house, searching for his best friend. he felt bad for being so mean. where did she say she was going? for god's sake, he didn't even know what she said. he sighed. what kind of a friend was he? he couldn't believe that he just threw their friendship away for a stupid game of monopoly. no, diaz, you can fix this. star's your best friend. a little more determined, he continued searching.
star ran as fast as she could to the butterfly castle. "summoning cloudy!" the pink cloud appeared and giggled as the two were whisked into the air. as they flew closer, the butterfly castle came into clearer view. a chunk of the wall was destroyed. it looked as if a huge fist had punched through the walls. oh, no. where were her parents? then she saw them. the huge, metal warriors. thousands of them. their eyes glowed an unusual blinding white. were they here to protect the kingdom? from what, though? she saw eclipsa and moon. they stood before the great salarian warrior-like thing and looked as if they were shouting at it. "cloudy, go to queen moon and queen eclipsa." star said quietly. they flew faster towards the two. when she reached the balcony where moon and eclipsa were conversing with the huge knight, she hopped off.
"star!" eclipsa hugged her tightly and led her behind the wall.
"WHY SHOULD I STAND OFF? THE MONSTERS DESERVE TO DIE! QUEEN SALARIA CREATED US FOR A REASON!" the huge knight boomed. it was more like multiple voices. wait. queen salaria? star peeked from behind the wall. what she saw almost made her scream. it was mina! she was still alive? and in her salarian form? what was she doing? star had so many questions. "eclipsa! what is she doing?"
"i'm afraid mina wants to kill all the monsters." the queen said wearily. she looked over at globgor and meteora, huddled in a corner. she smiled faintly as globgor rocked the child. "where's marco?"
"uhh, he's back at earth. he didn't want to come." star looked down, still hurt. but before eclipsa could say anything, mina shouted again.
"I DON'T CARE! I'LL KILL THEM ALL! AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME!" she boomed. then she took off, shaking the ground so violently that parts of the castle fell. moon rushed to star.
"star! oh, star, it's not safe here! we have to leave!" moon took her hand. star pulled away. "mom! we have to stay and fight mina! what about everyone else?" she gestured to the destroyed houses and families, hiding behind rubble.
"we'll have to leave them," moon said gravely.
"starrrr! star, i'm sorry!" marco was losing hope. where was she? he'd looked everywhere. except..
except her room. that's right! how could he be so stupid? her own room! he took the stairs two at a time. stopping at the door, he rubbed his temples. what if it went wrong? what if he made it worse? there was no time to think. slowly opening the door, he was surprised to find it empty. what? where could she be? just before he walked out the door, he heard a voice.
"searching for someone, diaz?" a familiar voice laughed.
"where are you, glossaryck?" marco searched the room for a little blue figure. he heard a snap, and a person the size of marco's hand appeared. except the person had a very long forehead with a beautiful gem in the middle. "there you are! what are you doing here?"
"well, i figured that i should be asking you. who are you looking for?"
"star. i was kind of being insensitive back at the party and i think i hurt her. do you know where she is?"
"well, maybe. i did see her leave." marco's eyes bulged. "SHE LEFT THE HOUSE?"
"no, and yes." glossaryck examined his nails.
"what do you mean? where is she? STOP SPEAKING IN RIDDLES!"
"i am not speaking in riddles. the princess went to mewni. did you not hear?"
"what?! i have to go now. she can't be there alone! what is she doing there?"
"i cannot tell you anything more than that mewni is in trouble." glossaryck smiled serenely at the teen. marco's eyes bulged for the second time. "she's in danger! i-"
"i'm afraid so. and it is serious danger. she will be in a difficult place. she will have to make a decision. her choice will determine the fate of everyone and everything, including you two."
"what? is she safe? is she going to-" glossaryck interrupted marco.
"just shut up. you should probably go. will she be okay? we may never know." glossaryck said mysteriously and floated back to his hiding spot.
"uhh, glossaryck? i can see you." marco looked at him weirdly.
"oh! oops!" he giggled. he held up his fingers. "oh, and also, good luck. you'll need it." then he snapped and vanished. after a long silence, marco sighed. turning towards the dresser, he suddenly heard footsteps outside of star's bedroom.
"STOP IN YOUR TRACKS!" he yelled. "I.. I HAVE A WAND AND IM NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!" he picked up star's wand from her bed carefully. the footsteps came closer. "don't.. don't take another step!" marco yelled shakily. where was star when he needed her? suddenly, the lights flicked on and a familiar face appeared. it was kelly.
"oh man, you had me so scared." marco took a deep breath and set down the wand. kelly laughed.
"i just wanted to check on you. are you okay?" she smoothed out her hair. it felt like so long ago that marco had "broken up" with her. it was kind of obvious that she still liked him, but he didn't pay much attention to it.
"yeah, i'm good. i just can't believe i was so mean to star." he sat down, burying his face in his hands. kelly walked over and sat beside him, resting a hand on his shoulder. "hey, it's okay. it's star's fault for annoying you even after you told her that you were busy." she grinned.
"no. it's not. mewni is in danger, and it's all my fault. i should've listened to star-"
"i think that it was better you didn't. i'd rather have you stay with us and play monopoly. stay with.. well, me," she looked down, blushing. marco sat stunned, in silence. then he stood up, furious. "i can't believe that you'd say something like that. no! no, kelly, can't you see? mewni. is. in. danger. glossaryck even warned me! star warned me too! that's what she was talking about! she left for mewni, and because i was being such an idiot, i left her in danger. alone. it's not about who wants to be with who, because this is urgent. and i need to go." marco glared at kelly, who sat open-mouthed on star's bed. he picked up the scissors on her dresser and tore at the fabric of air. then he looked back.
"kelly- i'm sorry, but when are you going to realize that i don't like you that way?" kelly's eyes filled with tears. marco turned around, lifted the scissors and stepped into the portal, leaving poor kelly in star's room, all alone.
