You say a lot about me,
The things that I can do:
I can finish school,
I can earn my degree,
I can get a working job,
I can buy my own house,
I can travel the world,
And I can make my own life.
All things that you expect of me.
Things you believe I can do.
I try and try every day.
You always say the same thing,
"Your best is enough,"
But is it really enough?
I never hear the words,
"I'm proud of you,"
And you look disappointed.
Do you really believe in me,
Or do you just want me to meet expectations?
Expectations that I'm not reaching fast enough.
I always fear failure,
And your expression makes me feel
Like I'm always upsetting you.
But you always reassure me
That you love me and always have
And you always tell me,
"You are worthy,"
But I see no light in life,
I have no confidence in my skills,
And I can't make you proud.
So do you really mean it?
Am I worthy?
