Aunt Alicia had gathered all the family into the pink living room to tell them the day's plan: "We're all going as a family to Diamond Beach to meet up with some old friends!"
Luke groaned, "Old friends?!"
Alejandra giggled feverishly like a little five year old. She seemed to find her cousin a little too funny!
Mrs. Conway added, "they have lovely kids too."
Sylvia and Phoenix both huffed in frustration. All Phoenix wanted was, to escape to Paul's house as curiosity was rising. Her cousin on the other hand, enjoyed family outings about as little as she did.
Rebecca's face lit up at the sound of spending the day at the beach. This was a great opportunity for her to obtain a glowing sun tan as she found her pallor unatractive and envied her sister for her olive skin tone.
Mr. Conway and Uncle Dan left for the basement where the fishing rods and diving gear were stored. Luke followed them as he was first to put dibs on the surfboard.
Phoenix sprinted up the stairs in search for a cute bikini. It didn't take her long to find her favourite floral one in lilac. She popped on an oversized flannel over it in case there was a nip in the air later on. Sylvia stormed into the bedroom fussing over the lack of time she had to do her hair and makeup, let alone to pick out a suitable outfit.
"You know this family?" Phoenix asked breezily.
Sylvia replied in a civil tone, "no.... I've heard of them though. Mom met them when she worked in the labs."
"Scientists huh!" Phoenix said to herself.
She heard a faint "yeah" from her cousin.

"GIRLS! We're all waiting for you outside" Both girls heard Mrs. Conway roar.
Both girls chorused a high pitched, "COMING," while gathering together their final bits and bobs and shoving them into their separate beach bags.
Everyone left the men to do the locking up while Mrs. Conway and Aunt Alicia trailed behind their children chatting in low voices. Alejandra was on the phone to someone and Luke zoomed ahead on his 'Billabong' skateboard. Phoenix and Rebecca were walking side by side when the former recognised Christian Mason's voice greet their cousin.
"Hey Syl."
Sylvia played with her glossy, golden locks giving him a full - blown smile.
Phoenix turned her head around to get a good look at him. She only then realised that she was quite attracted to him. His hair matched his chocolate brown eyes and was cut in an undercut hairstyle. He had a fascinating little gap between his two front teeth which made her think of Rimmel - Get the London look models! He appeared to be about the same age as Sylvia and herself and he had a naturally toned body. He also wore a pair of light blue surf shorts and a Real Madrid football jersey. Phoenix smiled at this obervation as Real Madrid were her favourite team too.
Christian dismissed her regard and she recoiled. However, she was forced to recall that he was not trying to come across as unfriendly. She was the one who told him to forget about their conversation earlier that morning.
Sylvia asked if Christian could come with them to Diamond beach on their picnic. She didn't seem to have any real interest in this boy. She only wanted his company and was clearly able to win him over with her radiant glow.
Aunt Alicia appeared to be fond of him also and said, "of course Christian can come, that's if your mother doesn't mind?!"
"Thank you Alicia! I'm home alone for the weekend cause mom has taken Tristan and Bailey up North so she won't mind."
